In the name of God, Amen!
I, Abraham Tennison in the County of Rutherford, and State ofTennessee, being of perfec t mind and memory, thanks be to God thereforecalling to mind the mortality of my body and kno wing that it is appointedfor all men once to die. Do make and ordain this my last will andtes tament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give andrecommend my soul into the han ds of God that gave it, hoping through themerits, death and passion of my saviour Jesus Chris t to have full andfree pardon and forgiveness of sins, and inherit everlasting life, and mybo dy I commit to earth to be decently buried at the discretion of myexecutor hereinafter named . Nothing doubting but at the Generalressurection, I shall receive the same again, by the Mig htly power ofGod. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God tobless m e with in this life. I give, devise, and dispose of the same inthe following manner, and tha t is to say, I first will that all thosedebts and buties tha t I owe to any manner of person s whatsoever shall bewell and truly paid ordained to be paid in convenient time after mydecea se, by my executors hereinafter names.
2nd. I give and bequeath unto my wife JANE my plantation with allthe property that I hav e, to hold during her life or widowhood, exceptsuch as shall hereafter name to my children.
3rd. I give to my wife JANE her bed and furniture and two cows toher to dispose of as sh e pleases and my Nell mare. And my children thathave left me, I have given them their share , which is COR NELIUSBRANDONS's wife and SAMUEL FULK's wife and HUGH CARNAHAN's wife andSOLOM ON and EDMUND TENNISON and JAMES HILTON's wife, I have given hershare. And I give to my daugh ter REBECCA her bed and fu rniture and onemare named Trusty and one cow and calf. And I giv e to my daughter NANCYADAMS one bay horse called Peter and one cow and calf and her bed andfu rniture. And my plantation I now live on I allow to be equally dividedbetween my sons HIRAM a nd ARCHIBALD and to cast lots for choice, and Igive unto my son HIRAM one Sorrel mare calle d Stockings, and one studcolt called Rinard and what he make on plantation, to be his own exc eptwhat goes to the support of my wife and family. And I give to my sonARCHIBALD one gray mar e called Dull and one cow and calf and one bed andfurniture, and at my wife's death, I allo w my son HIRAM to have all theproperty that I have not named, to do with as he pleases. And l astly Iordain my son SOLOMON TENNISON and ALEXANDER LORANCE, Executor of this mylast will an d testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke anddisavoual all and every other forme r testatments, will, legacies andbequeaths and executions by me in any way before named, wi l led, andbequeathed. Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my lastwill and testame nt.
