Marriage application form Matthew & Martha was recorded on Oct. 12, 1842.Aunt Lell says in no tes that Matthew & Martha had 12 children thus someof the names may duplicate. There apparen tly were two which she did notrecord; one being a baby who died during the first year and And erson whois currently unknown. See Fate's notes for details.

Thema Delores Compton Smith says that Martha was 13 years old when shemarried Matthew who wa s 21.

"Susan's parents married October 12, 1842 when her mother was 13 yearsold and her father wa s 21. Her parents were Mathew and Martha DaughteryPitts. Mathew acquired a large amount o f land when they moved toTennessee from North Carolina. "

Several other source indicate that Martha's family name was Nolen.~
