A Tennison is the oldest known grave in the cemetery. It is the pile ofstones which is not ma rked. We believe it is Abraham Tennison, Jr.,Caroline Fulk's grandfather, i.e. Lucy Tenniso n Fulks' fathe r.

BACKGROUND: There are many groups of Shelton's in Tennessee even as early as the 1840s, however, believe that this man (John Anderson Shelton's father) is
Samuel Shelton m: Emily A. Yardley 25 JUN 1843 in Rutherford Co, TN based on numerous census records.
RESEARCH: Indication that Samuel's father was the John Shelton in the tax records is that John is observed in the census adjacent to Yardley households. On the other hand, the John on the 1837 tax list has quite a bit of wealth but the John and Samuel households in 1850 are quite poor. So they could be different families or their wealth could have been diminish
