Notes from Sheila:
The Fisher family historians make Nicholas' wife Elizabeth a Cooksey, although know of no docu mentation or proof.
A researchers dilemma: Nicholas lists a daughter Sally Cooksey on hiswill. This has been a pu zzle for some time. We don't know for certainwhich Cooksey this Sally was married to. Best ca ndidates are CorneliusCooksey, Josiah and William Cooksey. Since Josiah seems to have beenwid owed (divorced ?) by 1800, and re-married to Charity by1801, he maynot be the best candidate . We find a Sally Cookse y on the roll of churchmembers for Enoree Baptist church in Greenvil le for 1801-1802, whichindicates, if this is the same Sally, that Josiah is not the best choi cefor her husband. It would appear t hat Cornelius is a good choice. Anyonehave other ideas ? Virtually nothing is known of the William Cooksey ofGreenville Co. Another possible candida te would be Andrew Cooksey Sr.,although he would h ave been born about thesame time as old Ni cholas. Bythe way, Cornelius Cooksey is within a few doors of Nicholas Fisher onthe 1790 ce nsus. The other associated Cookseys are in Edgefield Countyin 1790.
