Ralph H. Jamison, S SGT US Army WW II, served in Europe under GeneralPatton in the 3rd Army a nd after the war was over, was stationed inoccupied Germany in Z? He returned to Germany to t he same hous e in whichhe was stationed a few years before he died. It is told that when the Allied Toups occupied Germany they literally could occupy any house thatwas suitable to serv e an area while there. I t is said that he was putin charge of one such house which was owne d by a very nice family. Thepeople who lived in the house had to leave and find other quarte rs whilethe area was occupied. It is said that the lady would on occasionsreturn to the hous e to visit and ask to pick up dishes or some otherpersonal item. He would always treat her ki ndly and took good care ofthe home while his me n were stationed there. Upon return to tha t housea few years before his death, the people now living there gave him asoldier's helmet t hey found in the basement of the home. He was able togo to t he room that he called home whi le serving in occupied Germany.
Probably the most unfortunate thing that happened in his life was theexperience that he had w orked with for many years, i.e. K. O. Lester ofLebanon, Tennessee. About 6 months before hi s retirement , they laid himoff. We have often heard of companies that treated their life l ongemployees with such regard but it is a rare thing to actually know ofsuch a personal situa tion. Several other emp loyee who knew of thesituation resigned the company after that event . It is a far betterthing to have principles than the love of money.
Uncle Ralph was a kind and gentle person. He loved God, the church andlived a life which ble ssed many that he came in contact with. He alwayshad a funny story to tell and a smile tha t could wipe a way any sorrow. Those of us who knew him and loved him shall always remember hi s love oflive and joy he brought to each of us.
