John Jamison and Susannah Cape were married 26 March 1809 in CumberlandCo. Ky. They moved fro m Kentucky to Illinois between 1815 and 1819. The1820 census shows them living in Monroe Cou nty Illinois . They moved fromIllinois to Missouri between 1820 and 1825 and settled in the B lack RiverTownship of Washington Co.

William C. Love and John Jamison of Washington Co., Missouri bought 80acres of land in 1831 . This land is now in Reynolds Co. and is locatednear Black, Missouri. John Jamison and hi s family settled in SearcyCounty, Arkansas sometime prior to 1839. Their home was located a t themouth of the Jamison branch of the Buffalo river. The area being namedfor this family.
