Susan's parents married Oct. 12, 1842 when her mother was 13 years oldand her father was 21 . Her parents were Mathew and Martha DaughteryPitts. Mathew acquired a large amount of lan d when they move d toTennessee from North Carolina. Susan was given around 200 acres of land and her father, Mathew built her a two story colonial home, a barn, chicken house, a outsid e privy and hog houses. He ga ve her some of thefarm animals. Mathew was a very prosperou s farmer and did this for eachof his children when they married.
Since Susan's mother was Martha Nolen, it is assumed that Martha's mothercould have been Mart ha Daughtery Pitts. however, has never been proven??
