Somehow, and I can't find out how, Mansy started out with the name ofPeter Donnelly and someh ow it got changed to William Hugh, nickname"Manzy". Son of Hugh Black Jamison and brother o f Henry Clay, Mansy wentto the Civil War with his brother, got shot in the face and nose wa s shotoff, so he paid someone to back and fight for him in the war. TheJamisons came about th e time Attala County opened up. It was called "Treeof Dancing Rabbit" by the Choctaw Indian s who owned Attala County.Hadseveral sections of land,160 acres. Ollie bought it from a carpe t baggerwho was reading for the law. Put it in her name since Mansy was not tooambitious or i ndustrious. Had a cemetary near it and house was built withsquare nails. Ran a grist mill bes ides farming, but the boys actually didthe work. Ga ve each son land. Had six sons and six da ughters, a set oftwin girls Emma and Ella. Susie's wedding gifts burned up in the fire ofth e house which was caused by Emmette burning trash 150 yards from t hehouse and the sparks cat ching it on fire. The Haseltines had shearedsheep and had made coverlings from the sheep to u se as covers when peopleslept. They got burned too and were valuable. The "Dog Trot" house ha d 7rooms, a side porch, back porch, and a big front porch. It had a wagonshed, potato house a nd a smoke house. They banked the potatoes. Aunts ofFaye Jamison who came down from Stoke ly . Stokely's wife died when sonwas six months old, Stokely died when son was 5-6 years old. Ol lie raisedthe boy until she died when he was 12, then her son Willie (bachelor) anddaughter E mma (old maid, married late in life) raised the son, RobertEmmitt Jamison, father of Robert E . Jamison and Faye Jamison. Willie andEmma stayed together in the old family home. Ella, th e twin of Emma diedyou ng. Robert E.inherited 80 acres of the land and gave it to his twosons , Faye inherited 80 acres. Emmette was putting out a fire in a ditchaway from the house, th e sparks flew and caught the house on fire. Itburned up antiques, everything. Stokely, Woodso n, Willie wer all 6'1" or6'2". Most of the Jamisons were 5'10" or 5'11".
