John Word was given one negro boy named Daniel in his father's will of1821. He also stated th at since the other named children had a bed andfurniture and a cow and calf when they left th at John and Edmond alsohave such.

Uncertain if the following record is of John Word, however, he was theonly one in the count y by that name as far as we know:

In each district of Tennessee a local Home Guard and Minute Men wereassigned. In Wilson Co . on May 23,1861 Col. John B. Scobey was electedchairman of the Home Guard. He, John Word an d B. W. G. Win ford wereappointed to investigate the procurement of arms. They reported on J une3, 1861, "No arm can be bought at any price." - p. 322 of Prolog toSuccession, Chapter X X of History of Wilson Co., 1961.

There was also Word's Cross Road, 5 miles from Cainville, east ofMurfressboro Pike between Sh op Springs and Cainville.

In 1802 the Wilson Co. Tax list of Smith's Fork included Thomas Word.Thomas is believed to b e the brother of John Q. Word.
