Armstrong was Major of a company in the Confederate Army for fouryears...His first wif e was Lucetta Butler, sister (first cousin) of TuckButler, and from their union were born tw o sons, Bailey* and ThomasHarvey; two daughters, Sarah Ann and Kirk. After the close of the w ar hebuilt a log house on the south side of Walnut Street, about 50 yards Westof Dr. Davis' h ouse, in which he lived fo r a short time before it wasburned. He moved to Nashville where h e was actively engaged in thewholesale dry goods business for many years. He was likewise int erestedin the steamboat business, ownin g the steamboat L.T. Armstrong whichplied the Cumberl and River from Nashville to Burnside, KY...Thomas Harveymarried Miss Mollie Fisher of Carthag e. Many people will remember him asCaptain of many steamboats, being considered one of the be st navigatorson the Cumberland River. He was of a genial disposition and strongpersonality an d loved by all who knew him.

Shadrach Noland served in the Revolutionary War of 1776. He is listed onthe 1840 Census for R evolutionary War Pensioners on page 159. Age isgiven as 89 years old. Also on the South Carol ina Indents #488 Lib M.Abstract from pension file states " soldier was born in 1752 in Freder ickCo. Virginia. After the Revolution the soldier lived in Pendleton Co.South Carolina, the n moved to Hopkins Co. Ke ntucky, to Dickson Co.Tennessee, and then on to Hardin Co. Tennesse e where he applied March 17,1834 having lived there some 12 years."
