Some sources indicate his birthday was on the 21st of December, however, he said it was the 25th and it is engraved on his memorial.

When we were small, he would say: "you know what?" We'd say "What?", he'dsay "Chickens Squat"

He would tell the tell of keeping his hat, the kind Jungle Jim would wearon the back porch o n a shelf.
As he would walk out the door, he would grab his hat and put it on.
On time he did so and a snake was in it. From then on the would check.

He would chew tobacco the old fashion way. He would keep a tobacco twistand when
he had the urge he would take out his pocket knife and cut off a chunk.
