Neftie Alexander Gammon, age 94, of Lafayette, TN, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008.

Neftie Alexander Gammon was born on Thursday, November 13, 1913, in Macon County, TN, born one of eight siblings to the late Sam and Cammie Rosemary Gregory Gammon. On March 31, 1933, he married Nettie Gertrude Holland, who preceded him in death. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by: three brothers; Obra Gammon, Ethlie Gammon, and Cordis Gammon, and three sisters; Lola Fishburn, Zelma Cherry, and Evelle Moss.

Neftie Gammon was a farmer, a truck driver for Smith Brothers Feed Mill, and a member of Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church # 2.

He is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Brother Jerry and Barbara Gammon of Lafayette, TN, a daughter, Virginia Carter of Lafayette,TN, one brother Lymon Gammon of Indianapolis, IN, three grandchildren; Beverly Reid, Richie Gammon, and Doug Gammon, and five great-grandchildren; Katie Reid, Ethan Reid, Zakk Gammon, Haylee Gammon, and Hunter Gammon.

Burial was in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, January 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Elder Billy Joe Shoulder officiating. His pallbearers were Jon Hesson, Jason Gregory, Josh Gregory, Steven Gregory, Dominic Buono, Jr., Cody Miller and Shane Hesson .
He passed away at the Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, TN
He was the son of the late Willie Newton and Otty Buck Gregory. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Willie Gregory, son-in-law, Harold Gammons, sisters, Graddie Dickens and Lizzie Howell, brothers, Elston, Stanton, Thurman and George Allen Gregory. He was a Mechanic for the State of Tennessee with 10 years of service and a member of the Sycamore Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: daughters & son-in-law; Geneva & Dudley Hesson, Lafayette, Tn., daughter, Ruth Gammons, Hendersonville, TN; sons and daughters-in-law; Randel & Beverly Gregory, Red Boiling Springs, TN, Dean & Debbie Gregory, Indianapolis, IN, Stanley & Judy Gregory, Lafayette, TN; granddaughters and their husbands, Dena & Rick Hoffmann, Christy & Dominic Buono; grandsons and their wives; Jon & Deneshia Hesson, Chris and Carie Gammons; grandsons, Jason Gregory, Scotty Gregory, Josh Gregory, Steven Gregory, great-grandsons; Cody Miller and Shane Hesson.

OBITUARY - Macon County Times, March, 1947
Mrs. Cora Beal Gregory, aged 53 years, died at Lebanon hospital following an operation about 24 hours earlier for relief of gallstone trouble. She suffered an attack of this about ten years ago, but had apparently recovered until stricken early last week. Survived by husband, Jonas Gregory, farmer of Upper Dixon's Creek section; one daughter, Mrs. George Beasley, Jr. of near Pleasant Shade; granddaughter, Sharon Beasley, residing with her parents; and one sister, Mrs. Eva Brummitt of Nashville. The remains were laid to rest in Dixon Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Gregory was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, and was a teacher in schools of Smith, Trousdale, and Macon Counties in years gone by. She was the daughter of the late George and Sarah Anderson Beal and was born and reared in the Nickojack Branch section of Smith County.

Graveside services for Mr. Gregory will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 22 at Dixon Springs Cemetery with Eld. Charles Allen Gentry officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Sanderson Funeral Home in Carthage.
Mr. Gregory, 69, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at University Medical Center. He was a retired Lebanon businessman who owned and operated an Esso Service Station and Garage on West Main Street in Lebanon. One of five children of the late Fred Alvis and Elsie Ellis Nixon Gregory, he was born in Pleasant Shade.
He was a member of the Bide Russell Missionary Baptist Church in Riddleton and a graduate in 1959 from Smith County High School where he was active in the agriculture program and his senior year served as President of the Future Farmers of America.
He was preceded in death by sister, Shelby Gregory Gutterrez and brother, Joe Allen Gregory.
Survivors include: daughter, Michelle (Richard) Augustyniak of Murfreesboro; sisters, Bobbie Duke of Donelson and Mary Moores of Ridgetop; granddaughter, Nicole Augustyniak; and his loving companion of 38 years, Chris Clinton of Lebanon
