Joseph F. Givens [Male] b. 17 JAN 1866 TN - d. 21 MAR 1949 Jackson County, TN

Joe Givens., a son of Archibald "Archie" and Mary Catherine Funk Givens, was born January 17, 1866, probably in Smith County, TN. His known siblings were Samuel T., Elizabeth, James, Harvey Neal, David Calvin "Tink", Sidney Cornelius, Minnie B., and Millie Frances. Joseph was united in marriage with Maggie A. Duke on September 10, 1889, in Jackson County, TN. Maggie was the daughter of Napoleon Clay Duke and Carrie Ann Thomas Duke. Joe and Maggie became the parents of Ethel Clara, Minnie B., Winburn Eugene, Eddie (who died at 6 weeks) and Walter who died shortly after birth. Maggie passed away a few days after Walter's birth at the young age of 32. After Maggie's death, Joe was married on March 16, 1905, to Martha Ann Huff Givens, who was previously married to James Givens. The following children were born to Joe and Martha: Harvey Neal, Ida Mae, William Hardin, Archie George, Mary Belle, Fannie L., Minnie O., Mary Helen, Ivie Marie, and Linnie Givens. Joe died in Jackson County on the twenty-first day of March 1949 at the age of 83, and was buried in the Witcher Cemetery, Bagdad, Jackson County, TN. According to his death certificate, Joe suffered from senility at the time of his death.

Maggie was the daughter of Napoleon Clay Duke and Carrie Ann Thomas Duke. Maggie Duke was united in marriage with Joseph Givens on September 10, 1889, in Jackson County, TN. Joe and Maggie became the parents of Ethel Clara, Minnie B., Winburn Eugene, Eddie (who died at 6 weeks) and Walter who died shortly after birth. Maggie passed away a few days after Walter's birth at the young age of 32.

The son of Micajah and Cynthia Ann Jones Duke, Clay was married first to Carrie Ann Thomas on 12 December 1867 in Smith County, TN. They were the parents of Maggie Duke and John Critman Duke. After Carrie's death, Clay married 2nd to Emma Brazzel.

Athalene Dyer [Female] b. 15 JUL 1925 - d. 24 MAR 2007 Maple Grove Cemetery, Macon Co., TN

Athalene East, age 81, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, TN. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Sloan officiating. Tim Ray, Josh Carter, Matt East, David East, Nick Hall, Randy East, Adam Hauskins, Jacob Hall, and T.J. Ray served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Athalene East was born on Wednesday, July 15, 1925, in Macon County, TN, the daughter of the late Phillip and Esma Morgan Dyer. She was married to Cordell East on November 7, 1942, who preceded her in death on April 7, 1974. In addition to her husband and parents, four sisters, Effie Walton, Willie Keene, Nellie Wolfe, and Idell Walker, preceded her in death. She had worked at the Shoe Factory in Gallatin and the Blouse Factory in Hartsville. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church and enjoyed her grandchildren, quilting, and all needle work.

She is survived by sons, R.C. (Barbara East), Lafayette, TN, Bobby (Sharon) East, White House, TN; daughter, Wanda (Barron) Smith, Lafayette, TN; brother, Phillip Dyer, Lafayette, TN; sister, Lucille Parker, Bainbridge, IN; grandchildren, Lisa Hauskins, Melanie Johnson, Tim Ray, Rosemary Harper, Tiffany Fuqua, Matthew East, Melissa Wright, and David East; 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Zelma Morgan Gentry, age 86 of Red Boiling Springs passed away Sunday morning, December 2, 2012 at her residence. Zelma is at the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN.

Funeral Services for Zelma Morgan Gentry will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, December 4, 2012 at 1 p.m. from the Red Boiling Springs Church of Christ with Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitley Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will begin Monday at 10 a.m.

Dennis Edward Glover, age 71, of 108 Days Road, Lafayette, Tn., passed away Tuesday morning, April 29th, 1986, at his home. He was born in Macon County, the son of the late David and Darthula Morgan Glover. He was a member and Deacon of Meadorville Missionary Baptist Church, the Lafayette Masonic Lodge #543, Lafayette Odd Fellow Lodge #491, and the Rebekah Lodge. One son, Ollie Glover, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 30th, 1986, 3 p.m., in the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, in Lafayette, Tn., by Eld. Harold Linville and Eld. Bobby Gann. Interment was in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Active pall bearers were Ricky Keen, Steven Parker, Sammy Parker, Donald Ray Whitley, Denny Parker, Ronald Watson, Melvin Watson, and Henry Polston.

Honorary pallbearers were Cliff Celsor, Elmer Smith, Calvin Parker, Johnny Golden, Frankie Golden, and Gene Golden.

He is survived by his wife Iva Lee Parker Glover, two sons, Jimmy Glover, Lafayette, Tn., and Burgin Glover of Camden, Tn.; one brother, Herbert Polston of Nashville, Tn., three sisters, Ruth Whitley of Nashville, Tn., Cora Porter of Bowling Green, Ky., and Laura Hubbard of Knoxville, Tn., seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Allison May "Allie" Brockett [Female] b. 1872 - d. Kirby Cemetery, Macon Co., TN

Allison May "Allie" Brockett

There is no monument for Allie, but the grave of Allie Brockett Morgan, wife of Daniel Crawford Morgan is listed in this cemetery in the Macon County Historical Society's Cemetery Book.

Allie was the daughter of James Harvey and Mary Josephine Wakefield Brockett. Her parents, her husband, Daniel C. Morgan, and their unnamed infant are all buried here, as well as her maternal grandparents, Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth "Eliza" Ann Gibbs Wakefield.

In addition to the infant buried here, Allie and Daniel were the parents of Alvis B. and Celia C. Morgan.

Charles Ray Morgan, age 69 of Red Boiling Springs, TN passed Thursday morning, November 14, 2013 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Charles is at the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN.

Funeral Services for Charles Ray Morgan will be conducted Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2013, at 2 pm from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitley Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will begin Saturday 11 am and continue until the service at 2 pm Sunday. Family request memorials be made to assist the family with funeral expenses. You may make these memorials by calling or coming by the funeral home.

Ms. Ida Beatrice Morgan, better known as Beatrice, age 89 of Lafayette, TN passed away Tuesday, December 22 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning, December 24th, at 11 a.m., from chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Harold Dean Linville and Elder Guthrie Thompson officiating. Roger Presley and Anthony Presley served as honorary pallbearers. Tim Morgan, Lance Morgan, Nathan Morgan, Jackie Porter, Jeff Porter, Tommie Porter, Leo Faulkner, and Kevin Gocha served as active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Drury Cemetery.

She was born on November 19, 1920 in Macon County, TN. She was one of four siblings born to her parents; Johnnie B. and Mary Lee Brim Porter, who both preceded her in death. Beatrice was married to C. M. Morgan, Jr. on May 18, 1940, sharing thirty-five years together, and raising two sons. C.M. preceded her in death on December 20, 1975. Besides her husband and parents; a grandson, Tony Morgan, two brothers, J.B. Porter and Huston Porter, and a sister, Elizabeth Gregory, also preceded her in death.

As a young woman, Beatrice worked as a seamstress for over twenty years at Imperial Reading. She also worked a period of time at Texas Boot Factory, Carters Automotive, Macon County General Hospital, and Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, before retiring. Beatrice was a loving mother and grandmother, who took great pride in her family. She enjoyed mowing her yard, and if she found out that the boys were coming to mow, she would go out and try to get the yard mowed before they got there. Beatrice liked to work in her flower beds, and she also enjoyed listening to gospel music. She was saved at the age of nine and joined Dixon Creek Missionary Baptist Church in 1930; in 1954 she moved her membership to Meadorville Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a member. Beatrice was a very kind and loving lady who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Beatrice is survived by; sons, Ronnie and wife Carolyn Morgan, and Donnie and wife Annette Morgan all of Lafayette, TN, grandchildren, Tim and wife Johnna Morgan, Lori and husband Kevin Gocha all of Lafayette, TN, and Nathan and wife Brittney Morgan of Murfreesboro, TN, great-grandchildren, Lance Morgan

Ashton and Bailey Butcher; also survived.

Funeral services for Obera Morgan are scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 2 pm from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Dean Dyer and Elder Jeff Likens officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocky Mound Cemetery.

Larry Thomas Morgan, age 60, of the Coleytown Community of Macon County, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 8, 2008 at his residence.

Larry Thomas Morgan was born on Thursday, November 20, 1947 in Wilson County, Tennessee, one of two siblings born to Climath Carole Powell Morgan, who survives and lives in Macon County and the late Thurman Otis Morgan, who preceded him in death on December 4, 1970. He was married to the former Wanda Faye Mahaney on December 4, 1970, who survives. Besides his father, a granddaughter, Makaya Carter preceded him in death. He was retired from TRW Ross Gear in Lebanon, where he had worked for 41 years and was currently working at Mueller Refrigeration in Hartsville. He loved farming and presently had tobacco crops. He served his Country in the United States Army and was a member of the Haysville Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 37 years and his mother, he is survived by, son, Jeff (Evette) Morgan, daughters, Kim (Shawn) Carter, Lori (Clint) Carter, sister, Sherry (Jeff) Massey, grandchildren, Kendrick & Keeley Carter, Allye & Collin Morgan, Morgan & Cadence Carter, and nephew and niece, Thomas & Mary Massey.

James Reeves, Donnie Gregory, Donnie Bowman, Ray Mason, Tom King, Leland Hargis, and Thomas Massey served as Honorary Pallbearers. James Mahany, Terry Doss, Kelvin Stevens, Kevin Kirby, James Ford, Tim Reeves, Randy Reeves, and Derek Sanders served as Active Pallbearers.

Interment was in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.

Lena Morgan passed away Monday morning, January 7, 2008 at the Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, TN.

She was born July 24, 1926 in Macon County, TN, the daughter of the late Don and Della Ford Jones. On December 23, 1950, she married R. C. Morgan, who survives. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Allen Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of the Meadorville Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors besides her husband, R. C. of 57 years include: Sons, Andy and Randy Morgan; grandsons and their wives, Anthony & Melissa Morgan, Darrell & Sherri Morgan all of Lafayette, TN, 6 great-grandchildren.

Interment was in the Drury Cemetery.
Her pallbearers were Anthony Morgan, Darrell Morgan, Donnie Morgan, Ronnie Morgan, Roger Jones and Mike Tatum.

Ora May (Cox) Golden lived to be 93 years old. She was a school teacher at 'Old North Greasy School' in Bunch, OK. She never remarried after marriage to Clarence Bradley Golden ended in divorce. Two children: Kenneth and Jack Golden.
