Funeral Services for Mrs. Gertie Driver Carter, age 93, of The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, TN., formerly of the Galen Community, were conducted Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Lafayette with Elder Thomas Earl Roark officiating. Pallbearers were James Driver, Tommy Dallas, Charles Roddy, Donald Hale, Kevin Brawner, and Corey Kirby. Interment was in the Galen Cemetery in Lafayette.

Mrs. Gertie Carter passed away Tuesday morning, November 23, 1999 at the Macon County General Hospital in LaFayette.

A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Margaret Susan Meador Driver. She was married to Paul Allen Carter on December 25, 1932, who preceded her in death on June 9, 1934. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lillie Holland, Cricket Fox, Danolie Dallas and brothers, Wesley, Dudley, Ocie and Ben Driver. She was a retired sales clerk and a member of the Lafayette Church Of Christ.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

age 80, of LaFayettte, Tn passed away on Sunday April 18, 1999 at Royal Care of Westmoreland.

The Macon County, Tennessee native was a former County Executive of Macon County, having served from 1972 to 1982, and later from 1986 to 1990, and he was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Charles Frederick Dallas and Dee Driver Dallas, and was married to Irma Blankenship, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Rodger Dotson; brother, Edsel Dallas, LaFayette, TN, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral Services for Aubrey Charles Dallas were conducted at 11 AM, Wed., April 21, 1999 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in LaFayette with Eld. Terry Austin and Eld. J.C. Austin officiating. Burial in Galen Cemetery, Macon County, Tn

Irma Irene Blankenship Dallas, age 84, a resident of The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, passed away Monday, January 19, 2004 at The Palace. The Macon County, Tennessee, native was born June 11, 1919, a daughter of the late J.E. Blanken-ship, Sr. and Edna Hudson Blankenship. She was a retired school teacher in Macon County Schools and a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. On November 19, 1940, she was united in marriage to Aubrey Charles Dallas, who preceded her in death on April 18, 1999.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Dallas Dotson and Rodger Dotson; of Lafayette, TN; 2 grandchildren, a great-grandson, 4 step-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Philena Blankenship, Lafayette, TN; 2 sisters-in-law, Rulene and Jean Blankenship; a brother-in-law, Edsel Dallas, all of Lafayette, TN; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harold Blankenship and J.E. Blankenship; and an infant sister, Virginia Blankenship.

Funeral services for Irma Irene Blankenship Dallas were conducted Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Terry Austin officiating. Burial was in Galen Cemetery.

Funeral services for Leonard "Mattie B." Driver were conducted on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Eld. J.E. Shoulders officiating. Roger and Doug Driver, J.R. King, and Kenneth Shrum served as honorary pallbearers. James and Thomas Driver, Jimmy Shrum, Jackie Yokley, Rayburn King, and Jonathan McGuffey served as active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Galen Cemetery.

Mattie B. Driver was born on October 10, 1918, in Macon County, TN, to the late Duddley and Sarah Elizabeth Blankenship Driver. On December 26, 1939 he married the former Mary Holland, who survives. Besides his parents, brothers, Comas, Pat, Clarsie, Gennie, Earlie Driver, sisters, Jewell Franklin, Pearlie Brown, and half-sister Stella Carter, preceded him in death. Mr. Driver was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He drove a school bus for ten years, drove for Macon County Highway Department for ten years and he was a farmer.

Besides his wife of sixty-seven years, he is also survived by; son, Johnny (Glenda) Driver, Lafayette, TN; daughters, Lou (Travis) Kirby, Mt. Juliet, TN, and Mattie (James) Abernathy, Lafayette, TN; sister, Sue Deckard, Lafayette, TN; 3 grandchildren,1 step-grandchild, 1 great-grandchild, and 4 step great-grandchildren.

Mary Ellen Driver, Age 91, of Gallatin, TN and formerly of Lafayette, passed away Saturday morning, December 25, 2010 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. A Funeral service for Ms. Mary Ellen Driver will be conducted on Monday, December 27, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder J. E. Shoulders officiating. Interment will follow in the Galen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday up until service time.

Mary Ellen was born in Macon County, Tennessee on July 27, 1919 to the late John Mark Holland and Pearl Elizabeth Carter. On December 26, 1939, she was married to the love of her life, Leonard Madison Driver. They shared almost fifty-eight years together and raised three children; Leonard preceded her in death on June 4, 2007.

Besides her husband and parents; sister, Pearlie Ann Holland, brothers, Jessie Holland, J. D. Holland, and Paul Holland, also preceded her in death.

Mary Ellen was a homemaker and a very loving nurturing mother. She loved cooking Sunday dinners for her family. Mary Ellen enjoyed quilting, sewing, and raising big gardens.

Being blessed with a green thumb, she could grow beautiful flowers. Going to church was what she loved to do most. She was saved and became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Mary Ellen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by; Son, Johnny and wife Glenda Driver of Lafayette,TN, Daughters, Lou and husband Travis Kirby of Mt. Juliet, TN, Mattie and husband James Abernathy of Lafayette, TN, 4 Grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren,

8 Step Great-Grandchildren.

RAY FLIPPIN - age 67 of Lafayette, passed away late on Sunday, July 4th, at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services for Ray Flippin were conducted Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder J.E. Shoulders officiating. Gordon McClard, Benny Doss, Hazel Goodman, Barry Jenkins, Mikey Oldham, Edsel Carter, Dwight Thompson, Eddie Swindle, Jack McClard, and Gene Oldham served as honorary pallbearers. Jerry Brooks, Jeff Gammons, Jeremy Keene, Glen Harold Donohoe, Danny McClard, and Harry Flippin, Jr. served as active pallbearers. Interment followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Ray was born in Macon County, Tennessee on May 13, 1943 to parents, Vanies Raymond and Bessie Mae Driver Flippin; they preceded him in death.

On August 17, 1963, he married the love of his life Peggy Bransford Flippin, sharing almost forty-seven years together. They raised a son and daughter; thus making their life complete. Ray worked for American Greetings as a Line Set-up man and worked part-time at the Macon County Board of Education. He retired in 2002 after twenty-seven years of employment. Ray took great pride in making large gardens and giving a lot of it away to friends and family. Sitting on the bank fishing or hunting in the woods was some of his great past times. He really enjoyed being outdoors. Most people remember Ray for being so big hearted. He liked giving to and doing for others. He was a good cook and enjoyed cooking for his friends and family. Ray loved his family and wanted to spend all the time he could with the grandkids. He was saved in 1955 and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member for over fifty-three years. Ray will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.

Besides his wife Peggy, he is survived by; son, Kenny Flippin, Daughter, Melissa (Steve) Belton all of Lafayette, TN, sisters, Alma (Jack) McClard, and Lula Mae (Gene) Oldham all of Lafayette, TN, grandchildren, Ethan Flippin, Emily, Erica, and their mother Regina Flippin, Lyndsey and Olivia Belton, two nephews and one niece; also survive

CARTHELL B. DRIVER, age 84 of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away peacefully, June 9, 2010 at Macon County General Hospital. Graveside services for Carthell B. Driver were conducted Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11 p.m. from the Macon County Memorial Gardens with Elder Anthony Hale officiating and interment followed. Brian Driver, T.J. Jones, Myron Perdue, Steve Brummitt, Kelvin Stevens, and Tim Green served as Pallbearers.

He was born in Davidson County, Tennessee on May 18, 1926 to the late Bert and Susie Pipkin Driver. Carthell married the love of his life, Irene Wood Carter Driver on August 20, 1948, sharing almost fifty-two wonderful years together and raising a son; Irene preceded him in death on February 1, 2001.

He was a veteran serving in the Army during World War II, after returning home he worked as a mechanic for Imperial Reading for several years and Form-Fit Rogers several years, before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed going fishing and bowling with friends and family, he also liked to raise big gardens. Carthell was a member of the V.F.W. in Lafayette and was of the Baptist Faith. He loved his family, cherishing every moment he had with them. Carthell will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.

He is survived by; son, Dewayne and wife Patricia Driver, grandchildren, Brian and wife Karla Driver, and April and husband T.J. Jones, great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brady Driver, and Gage Jones, all of Lafayette, TN and brother, Hillard Moe Driver of Lafayette, TN; also survives.

Terry "Jackhammer" Driver, 44 of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2003 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born July 4, 1958, and was a 1977 graduate of Macon County High School. He was a member of Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church and was the Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Lafayette Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Duffer Driver; a son, Nathan Driver; his father, Clyde "Pete" Driver; his mother, Jessie York Driver; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Donna Driver, all of Lafayette, TN; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Charles Johnson, Kingston Springs, TN; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Terry "Jackhammer" Driver were conducted at Wednesday, September 24, 2003, 11:00 a.m., at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Richard Wilson, Eld. Anthony Hale, Eld. Don Curtis, and Lafayette Fire Chief Keith Scruggs officiating. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were Troy Brawner, Michael Cothron, Michael Duffer, Barron Smith, Scott Sadler, Nicholas Jones, Rick Gann, and Terry Gann. Honorary pallbearers were members of Lafayette Fire Department and all City of Lafayette employees.

DRIVER, Jimmy KirkAge 72 of Lafayette. March 2, 2011. Jimmy was born on March 21, 1938 in Macon County to his parents, the late Cozy and Ruth Bohanon Driver. Besides his parents, sisters, Cozette Birdwell, Jackie Morris and Wilma Calloway; brother, V.D. "Skeeter" Driver and niece, Penny Driver, also preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Julia Ann Billingsley, on July 5, 1961. They were inseparable as a couple. After working for Imperial Reading Company, he joined the Tennessee Highway Patrol in 1964. He retired as sergeant in 1995 after 31 years of service. After retiring from the THP, he served as court officer for Macon County. In 2000, he was elected as Mayor of Lafayette, serving until 2004. During his tenure as Mayor, a new home for the Lafayette Police Department, upgrades to the Lafayete Sewer Plant, and a new fire hall for the Lafayette Fire Department were made under his leadership. He still served on the Lafayette Planning Commission. Jimmy was of the Baptist Belief. Jimmy is survived by wife, Julia Driver; brother, Lloyd (Mizelle) Driver of Lafayette; brother, Carl "Dick" Driver of Bowling Green, KY; sisters, Betty Key and Peggy Jenkins, both of Lafayette and sisters-in-law, Ann Driver of Lafayette and Betty Murray of Dixon Springs; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Leland and Pat Hargis. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. John Hinkle officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Shacklett is survived by her daughters, Marsha Ragsdale (Tom) and Judy Wells (Jim); grandchildren, Caroline Young (Brad), John Wells (Carla), Catherine Clearwaters (Bryan), and Tommy Ragsdale (Leslie); and great grandchildren, Sanders, Rowan, and Wesley Young. Mrs. Shacklett was married to the late John A. Shacklett.
