Funeral services for Lena Fuqua Cothron, age 86, of 3710 Hwy. 52, W., Lafayette, TN., were conducted Monday, April 22, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Elder Guthrie Thompson officiating. Pallbearers were Todd Birdwell, Tim Birdwell, Joey Wilburn, Martin Griewahn, John Miller, Kris Dillard. Interment was in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park.
Lena Fuqua Cothron passed away Friday afternoon, April 19, 2002 at the University Medical Center in Lebanon, TN.
A native of Macon County, TN., the daughter of the late Elder Noah Caleb and Izora Belma White Fuqua. She was married to Floyd Marion Cothron on May 13, 1939, who preceded her in death on June 26, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Blake Birdwell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Long Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: daughters, Rosemary Birdwell and Carolyn (Dean) Wilburn, Lafayette, TN., Ruth (Bill) Green, Murfreesboro, TN., 6 grandchildren: 2 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Emmit Bratton Holland, age 92 of Lafayette, TN were conducted at the Chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Meador and Eld. Ricky Day officiating.
Interment was in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park. Arthur Patterson, Dortch West, James Lee Holland, Dewayne Marsh, Dalton Manion, Austin Manion, Hayden Manion, Isaiah Blackwell, and Brock Dyer were Honorary Pallbearers. Ritchie Manion, Kevin Manion, Todd Burgess, Jeff Blackwell, Dr. Michael West , Bill Flippin, Bill Dyer, and Hank Brawner served as active pallbearers.
Emmit Holland passed away Tuesday morning, June 26, 2007 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.
He was born August 27th, 1914 in Macon County, TN, to the late Cager and Nola Glover Holland. He was married to the former Olive Cothron for sixty-plus years, which preceded him in death on January 21, 1998. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by daughter, Sandra Patterson, sisters, Clara Smalling, Bertha Hayes, Ann Whitworth, Lela Gammons, and Pearl Cook, brothers: William Holland, Jessie Holland, Lector Holland, Sam Holland, Grover Holland, and Mitchell Holland. He was a farmer and was loved by all who knew him.Survivors include: son: Gary Holland, daughters: Wilma Manion and Deborah (James) Celsor of Lafayette, sisters, Christine Flippin of Lafayette, Lavena Schmidt of Florida, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

William Mury Sampson, age 89, of the Brattontown Community of Macon County, TN, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Davidson County, TN. Funeral services for William Mury Sampson were held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ottis Jones officiating. Brian Toney, Wendell Toney, Wilkie Toney, Cliff Sampson, Don Stevens and Tyler Carrol served as Pallbearers. Interment was in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park in Lafayette with Military Honors. William was born on Saturday, September 18, 1920, one of four siblings born to the late Wade and Lassie (Kemp) Sampson. He was married to the former Dorothy Louise Cothron on December 24, 1941, who preceded him in death on December 20, 1999. He was inducted on January 1, 1943, into the United States Army. He served his Country during WWII as Private First Class in the Battery A 199th Coast Artillery Battalion, until his honorable discharge on January 2, 1946. While serving, he was involved in the Campaigns of Northern Solomons and South Philippines and was honored with decorations of Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and qualified as an expert rifleman. He was a long time farmer and was Missionary Baptist in belief. In addition to his parents and wife, his brother, Tommy Sampson, sisters, Emma Knight and Amie Scurlock, and grandson, William Sampson preceded him in death. Elizabeth was the daughter of William Story and Ann Rickman. She was married on October 11, 1809 in Sumner County, Tennessee to Isaac Leath born 27 May 1788 and died between 1850 and 1860.
Mary was shot thru a door by guerilla soldiers who were lookin for her husband, Joseph Vance. Joseph escaped out the back door but was hunted down and beaten by the soldiers, who left him for dead. Joseph was nursed back to health but he and his children left as soon as possible and went to Lafayette Co., Missouri. Joseph was born 22 Feb 1812 in Virginia and died in Lafayette Co., Missouri 15 Sept 1881 Mary was married to Joseph on 21 Sept 1835 in Sumner Co. Tennessee. - Thanks to Michael Meador
