Harvey Hackett [Male] b. ABT. 1890

From Nancy Rhoads:

My great Uncle Harvey Hackett of our Word family said when he was a child, his mother, Mary Elizabeth Word Hackett took him to his grandfather's wigwam. Uncle Harvey was born 1890? or there a..bouts. He did say we had a minister in the family, and if one didn't believe, by the time they heard him, they would! I don't know if that could be Chastains who lived in Buckingham as some were ministers and some moved to Bedford county, VA where my family is from.

Susie Jones Jamison [Female] b. 4 AUG 1876 TN - d. 23 OCT 1964 Williamson Co., TN

In the year of her birth to Major Thomas Emmett Jameson, her given name was Susie Jones Jameson. Major Jameson's younger sister Mattie Tennessee Jameson (1843 - 1894) married Silas M. Jones (1844 - 1921)in 1876. I believe they were married in Culleoka, TN. Silas Jones was a friend of Major Jameson... and the Jameson's and Jones were aligned families. Hence, Susie was given the name Jones as her middle name. Ellen J. Caldwell had previously married Charles Bennett Jones (1842 - 1929)in 1867. He was Silas' older brother. Ellen J. Caldwell.... was the daughter of Sarah Amanda Jameson-Caldwell, the older sister of Thomas E. Jameson and Mattie T. Jameson-Jones. Sarah was the oldest daughter, Mattie the youngest in the Jameson clan. . Major Jameson was the older brother of my great-grandmother, Mattie T. Jameson-Jones. She died of TB in 1876 and was buried in Rose Hill, Cemetery.

==============
s/o of John & Elizabeth Rountree Jameson
==================
Maybe the son of Isaac Jameson m. Arlicimase Murphy 3 March 1828, Mecklenburg Co., NC (Meacy in 1850 Maury).
====================
Listed in 1850 household of Isaac M. (b. 1804) and Meacy Jameson, and in 1860 household of John (b. 1782) and Elizabeth Jameson (grandfather? - no Robert in John's 1850 household).
=======================
On the morning of August 4, 1910, the messenger of death kissed the eyelids down, and Brother R. C. Jameson was called to realize the mysteries of the unseen. Brother Jameson was in his seventy-eighth year, and was the oldest member of the church worshiping at Beech Grove, Maury County, Tenn., where his presence will be greatly missed. Fifty-one years ago, under the preaching of Brother E. G. Sewell, he obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine once delivered unto the saints, as did about forty others, many of whom were his relatives. Ever afterwards he tried to live as one who desired heaven as his home. His suffering was great before the physical body was worn away, yet he was patient, kind, and uncomplaining. He was married to Margaret McMeen in December, 1866, to whom three children were born Clarence, John, and Clifton. Clarence preceded his father to the grave many years. Besides his wife and two sons, he leaves an aged brother and sister, who fully realize that he leaves a precious memory of every kind word and noble deed that he ever uttered or performed, and that his love reached out to them in words that left them to the right, whose example will shine as the morning star and will last through generations to come. Still there is an aching void, an empty chair; home is gloomy, cheerless, and desolate, and tears flow freely; but we can remember with gratitude and joy that there is a blessed fold up yonder, where no vacancies are ever made, where shadows of sorrow are never seen. Brother E. A. Elam conducted a most impressive funeral service, after which his remains were interred in the cemetery at Lasting Hope. Friends covered the new-made grave with beautiful flowers, showing in a small degree the love and esteem in which he was held. We have committed his body to the tomb, his spirit to God who gave it, awaiting to be reunited with the sainted dead, in the sweet by and by.

Tabitha Rachel Jameson [Female] b. 4 DEC 1839 Maury Co., TN - d. 31 DEC 1921 Florence, Lauderdale Co., AL

Posted in Findagrave.com by Wanda Bradford

I came across the obituary for "Tabitha Jamesson Foster" in the Florence Times. The print was faded/absent in several places but I'm including what I could decipher. I didn't include anything for which I was not sure. I'm copying it below. She died in Florence, AL and not Carter's Creek. Also, her middle name was Rachael, according to some member's history on Ancestry.com. Some have her name as Tabitha and some have it as Talitha.

Wanda

Census records and tombstone reflect the name of Talitha.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A very noble woman passed into her reward on Saturday evening when Mrs. Tabitha J. Foster heard the “last clear call and quietly sank into the deep sleep from which none ever wake to weep” at the home of her daughter, Miss Josephine Foster.

Mrs. Foster had been ill for several months, but was confined to bed for only a few days. Nearly a year ago, she lost her sight and, since this time, had undergone one major and two or three minor operations in the hope that sight would be regained and not altogether in vain, for she could see the color of flowers and she told the writer joyously “I saw my grandson’s face today for the first time in six months.” Her cheerful and patient bearing of this great affliction was marvelous. Only a splendid Christian that she was could have had such fortitude.

Mrs. Foster was the oldest of fourteen children and at age 82, was the last of this wonderful family to die. She was married to Joseph Malloy Foster in July, 1865 and lived at Carter’s Creek until his death. She and Joseph had seven children and was survived by four: Miss Josephine Foster and Mrs. Olivia Foster Elder, of Florence, Alabama; Mr. Eugene Foster, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Mr. Nick Foster, of Birmingham, Alabama. She also reared a grandson, Mr. Howard Roberts, and their devotion to each other was beautiful.
A sweet service was held on Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Miss Foster, and was conducted by Rev. Harding of the Christian Church, of which the deceased was a faithful and loyal member from girlhood. On Monday, the beloved mother was taken to Carter’s Creek and laid to rest in Lasting Hope Cemetery.

Note: The above are excerpts taken from her obituary published January 6, 1922 in the Florence Times. The newspaper clipping was difficult to read in several places, thus the above is not 100% “word for word”. -------Wanda Bradford http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=47080657

Jacob Frye [Male] b. 1726 Perkiomen, Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania - d. 25 FEB 1808 Frederick or Shenandoah Co., Virginia

Jacob FRYE was born in 1726 in Perkiomen, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. He died on 25 February 1808 at the age of 82 in Frederick or Shenandoah County, Virginia.

Jacob received a Fairfax patent for land just downstream from his father's. The survey was done 5 Nov 1750 and Jacob's land is mentioned in a deed of gift from his father Benjamin to his brother Joseph in 1751. The patent was not issued until 23 Mar 1762.

The survey for 271 acres on 5 Nov 1750 stated the land of Jacob was adjoining his father Benjamin Fry [on the west] and Paul Froman [on the east] on Cedar Creek a branch of the North River of Shannandoa. William Russell and Henry Fry were chain carriers. John Baylis, surveyor.
Frey Family Association Journal, Spring 2011, p.29

George Washington, age 16, took the job of surveying the holdings of Thomas Lord Fairfax in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia - he received 500 acres in Frederick County as payment. 200 acres of this tract was leased to Jacob Frey, Mary his wife, and Jacob their son, for the rent of 6 £ per year, for life. The lease is dated 23 Mar 1769, recorded in Frederick Co VA DB 13, p.15.

14 Jan 1768 Frederick County. Warrant granted by the Land Office of the Province to Jacob Fry - 50 acres, called "Fry's Addition". Bounds include a branch of the Tuscorara that falls into Monococy. The sketch shows a roughly rectangular tract with a very long dogleg which one can imagine gave him some sort of access to a road or stream, or the 50 acres adjoined along the side of another tract. The original survey dated 19 May 1749.

Will 25 Feb 1805, distributed estate to children including grandchildren John and Leah Frye, children of dec'd son John. Named wife Molly: sons Joseph, William, Jacob and John, dec'd; daughers Elizabeth wife of John Keller, Christina wife of Abraham Jamison, Catherine wife of Isaac Fry, and Polly wife of Abraham Chrissman. Executors John Fry and Joseph Snapp. Probate 4 Apr 1815.
