Mose's grandmother, Emily Jamison Boyd and her brothers and sisters wereequally given the est ate of their father William Robert "Bud" Jamisonbecause he had no will. Emily was newly marri ed to Mose B oyd, Sr. Thefamily (brothers & sisters) decided to sign over the family farm t o Emilyand Mose the farm because they were poor and had no place to live oftheir own. The far m was passed on to Mose Bo yd, Jr. the only issue. Moseand Zera had one son, Robert who was k illed on his second assignment inViet Nam. They were heart broken because of the lose of Bobb y and formany years never used the ins urance money the government sent. Theyeventually gav e the money to their church it is believe. A couple whoattended the church found out about t he contribution and started givingthem special atte ntion. They convenced them to move to an other churchin town where the couple were not as well known. Mose & Zera gave away the farm in their old age before Zera died for $1 under undetermined conditions to this couple that befriended them. Some have said that thissame couple had done this before but typically n o one had the financialmeans of taking it to court. Estimates range to $10,000 i n court cos tto do so and typically none of the cousins alive would undertake the costand time required because no gain could be accomplished except the neededjustice. Before the farm was signed over to the couple, the farm was tohave been given to a local religious based home for the el derly. Thecourts were not interested in protecting the rights of the elderly in theRutherfor d Co., TN are a. Less than one week after they signed away thefarm, they signed away their po wer of attorney as well. Friends, neighbors and relatives have yet to determine the motivati on to give itway after it had been in the Jamison family for almost a 100 years. Almost every one in the community knows of the situation and freely sharethe events surrounding the farm w ith anyone who ask. This event has be engiven to the writter by no less than a dozen relative s and friends of thefamily. It has been said that the couple gained over $300,000 from thela nd and property. It has also been said that the couple are currentlyworking on another lad y who is in a nursing home.

Captain Robert Ray Boyd and I were together at a fire support base nearSwan Loc Vietnam for a bout ten days in May of 1967. He was with the 319thArtillery (Abn), and, as I remember he wa s commanding the Artillerybattery co-located with the communications elements, of which I wa s OIC,and 4.2 mortar platoon of the 2d Battalion 503d Infantry. Boyd and Ispent a week or s o together and we shared a lot of tasks which includedthe security of the fire support base . Boyd's troopers got fire-missionsand they fired HE (high explosive) rounds all night long a nd some timesduring the day. We kept the communications up and running to the BrigadeHeadquar ters and the deployed companies in the area as well as providingfire support. Friendships ar e made quickly in a situation like we foundourselves in and Boyd and I found we had a lot i n common. Bothsoutherners, he from Tennessee and me from neighboring North Carolina, wehad ma ny conversations about life back home. I had only been in Vietnam afew weeks and he had bee n there over a year so he was able to give me afew pointers.

We got the word on the afternoon of May 16th that we would be air liftedout by helicopter th e following day and return to Bien Hoa base camp. Allof us were really happy to hear that. Sh owers, hot fo od, and beer! Thisperiod was really expected to be a laid back easy time to giv e our peoplesome well deserved rest. On the morning of May 17th the "hooks" (largeChinook CH- 47 transport helicopters) started air lifting our equipmentand men back to Bien Hoa. By after noon most of the equipment and abouthalf the men were gone. We knew it was a dangerous situat ion, and eachtime the helicopters li fted upward, their prop wash caused a terribledust stor m and a lot of noise.

Due to all the dust and noise mostof us were unaware that we were taking som e VERY accur ate incoming enemyfire. After several seconds people started falling all aroun d us and werealized what was happening. The helicopters, by now riddled with holesleft the ar ea, temporarily, and helic opter gun ships and air forcefighters were called in to stop the a ttack. Within 15 minutes it was allover. We took a large number of casualties for several rea sons. Onereason, we had covered in alm ost all of our defensive positions(bunkers, foxholes , etc) just a short time before the attack. Also, dueto the dust and noise of the helicopter s we heard and saw nothing.

Enoch married Mary Caroline Null, daughter of Jacob and Jane Woven Null, February 19, 1854. They may have had one child, Sarah, but at the present I have been unable to find anything on her. I do know Mary was born December 15, 1830, and died December 23, 1856. As the Civil War was raging, Enoch enlisted September 23, 1861, at or near Buffalo Valley, Putnam Co., TN in Shaw's Company, Co. F, 25th TN Regiment Infantry. He was listed on the roll at Fort Myers by Lt. A. B. Hardcastle, for a period of twelve months on May 10, 1862 he was elected 1st Lieutenant at Corrinth, Mississippi. While in the service he contracted cholera "flux" and a kidney disorder and was hospitalized in Chattanooga. On September 16, 1863, Enoch was discharged from the service due to the poor condition of his health. After his discharge from the service, he returned to his home in Punch (Watervale) to farm. In 1864 he married Elizabeth Malone, the daughter of Yancy and Rhoda Malone. To this union were born two children, Mary Lee who married John Wesley Word and James Neal "Jim" who married Mary Ann Johnson. Elizabeth died August 10, 1868.
