William Mury Sampson, age 89, of the Brattontown Community of Macon County, TN, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Davidson County, TN. Funeral services for William Mury Sampson were held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ottis Jones officiating. William was born on Saturday, September 18, 1920, one of four siblings born to the late Wade and Lassie (Kemp) Sampson. He was married to the former Dorothy Louise Cothron on December 24, 1941, who preceded him in death on December 20, 1999. He was inducted on January 1, 1943, into the United States Army. He served his Country during WWII as Private First Class in the Battery A 199th Coast Artillery Battalion, until his honorable discharge on January 2, 1946. While serving, he was involved in the Campaigns of Northern Solomons and South Philippines and was honored with decorations of Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and qualified as an expert rifleman. He was a long time farmer and was Missionary Baptist in belief. In addition to his parents and wife, his brother, Tommy Sampson, sisters, Emma Knight and Amie Scurlock, and grandson, William Sampson preceded him in death. Mary was shot thru a door by guerilla soldiers who were lookin for her husband, Joseph Vance. Joseph escaped out the back door but was hunted down and beaten by the soldiers, who left him for dead. Joseph was nursed back to health but he and his children left as soon as possible and went to Lafayette Co., Missouri. Joseph was born 22 Feb 1812 in Virginia and died in Lafayette Co., Missouri 15 Sept 1881 Mary was married to Joseph on 21 Sept 1835 in Sumner Co. Tennessee. - Thanks to Michael Meador

James Delbert Meador, age 71, of Siloam Community was dead on arrival at Macon County General Hospital Wednesday morning May 27th of an apparent heart attack. He was a grader operator for the Macon County Highway Department.
Funeral services were held Friday morning, May 29th at 11 a. m. at the Eulia General Baptist church by Woodrow Gregory and Raymond Adcock. Interment was in the Eulia Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Erma Akins Meador; 3 sons, W. L. Meador, Randall Meador and Michael Meador, all of Westmoreland; one daughter Mrs. Jewell Hollis Cothron of Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. Omadell Jones of Westmoreland; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late Willie Richard Akin and Bessie Wix Akin and was married to the late James Delbert Meador.
She is survived by two sons, W. L. Meador and Michael Meador, both of Westmoreland, one daughter, Jewel Hollis Cothron of Lafayette, five brothers, S. G. Akin and Tommy Akin, both of Westmoreland, Ora Akin and Jessie Akin all of Indiana; four sisters, Frances Gregory and Catherine Johns, both of Westmoreland, and Betty Leath and Lorene Burdine, both of Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Rev. W. L. Meador, age 78, of Westmoreland, TN, were held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. from Eulia General Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Keen and Rev. Larry Sloan officiating. Interment was in Eulia Cemetery. A Masonic Service was held Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
Rev. Meador passed away Monday, May 12, 2008.
He was the son of the late James Delbert Meador and the late Erma Selma Akins Meador and was united in marriage to Betty Jean Gregory Meador of Westmoreland.
Mr. Meador was retired from General Electric and was a member of Trammel Lodge #436; was a member of Eulia General Baptist Church; and was a General Baptist Minister for over 52 years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Randell Meador and sisters, Earlene and Irene Meador.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Gregory Meador of Westmoreland; son Ronnie (Janice) Meador of Springfield; daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Bonds of Scottsville, KY and Glenda (Tim) Sloan of Westmoreland; brother Michael Meador of Westmoreland; sister, Hollis Cothron of Lafayette; and 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
