Information received in the form of family group sheets from W. E. Cordell, 330 E Jefferson St;Pulaski, TN 38478
Notes:
Family stories are that Polly died giving birth to Martha and her twin brother Absolom. Nothing has been told of , John Tennison, except that he died shortly after Polly. Martha and Absolom were raised by their maternal grandparents, Mary (Tibbs) and Sherwood Strong and lived on a farm near Henry Castleman. Martha married Wash Castleman and some years later they brought Mary to their home and cared for her until she died. Sherwood Strong lived with Absolom & Lydia (Castleman) Tennison.
Just as her grandparents raised her, Martha & Wash raised a good number of their own grandchildren. These grandchildren called her "Patsie". It is said Martha broke her hip or leg in a fall from the house porch - never recovered and died several years before Wash
