Robert & Sarah (McKee) Jamison represent the first generation of this family in the United States. They were both born in Ireland. It can be assumed that Robert's family lived in the Northern Ireland area around Ulster, because of their involvement with William of Orange and the battle of the Boyne in 1690. It is not known if they were married in Ireland, but one history lists Sarah as being from Philadelphia. They settled near New York City on the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. There they eight children, William, Arthur, Robert, John, Samuel, David, Thomas and Jane.
here they eight children, William, Arthur, Robert, John, Samuel, David,
Ref: History of the Jamison Family as given by Jacob Jamison in 1863 -- Robert Jamison emigrated to America, not known when, from Ireland. He married Sarah McKee of Philadelphia. The names of their children, of whom there were seven sons and one daughter were William, Arthur, Robert, John, Samuel, David, Thomas and Jane.

The parents both died in 1802 in or near Philadelphia. Jane married Alexander Barr of Philadelphia. Arthur and Thomas both married and located in Micklenburg Co., North Carolina. Robert, Samuel, John, David and William all except Robert located in Baxter Co., Georgia. Robert who ????. Little is known by the writer of any of these families except that of William, whose history we will as briefly as possible jot down.

The Isaac W Jamison home (circa 1800), 306 Pine Street in Potosi, MO, isa two story French-st yle frame with hip roof and three front dormerwindows, three chimneys, fifteen paned window s in front of house, wideveranda with wainscoting around base. This is one of 17 historicWash ington County sites listed in a new state directory. It wasoriginally the Isaac Webster Jamis on home and is often referred to as theClara Hall home for the teacher who occupied it for ma ny years. The first50 years of Potosi were its palmiest days. The mines brought wealth, andel egant homes, for that day, were erected. The oldest of those homes isthe old home of Isaac Ja mison. Very appropriately for the oldest house intown, the Jamison mansion has its ghosts an d its mysterious rappings andknockings.

The memories I have of my grandfather are few but precious. His life was rough as a farmer an d it was made even worse when the family had gone totown, their house with all of their belon gings was bur ned to the ground. This happened about the time that the family just got on it s feet. Thefamily helped rebuild their house but things never to back the way theywere prio r to that. When Bob's father died he signed over his part of theinheritance to his sister wh o did not have a home. Then after all of thishis wife, Ada Cora died and all in all he ended up with nothing. They did raise their children with values which were uncommon for the situ ationand times. Each of them became successful in their own chosen professions.

I remember when I was probably 5 years old that my grandfather took me rabbit hunting with him . He shot a rabbit with the 22 rifle but it wasover the fence and he helped me over the fenc e to fetch i t. I can stillremember that the rabbit was alive so I picked him up by the ear s andbrought him back to the fence. I was teased for many years about thatoccasion but to m e it still is the fondest m emory I have of him.
him up by the ear s
Just a few years before my father died, he told me that my grandfather was a bootlegger. He t old of one time the revenuers came to find up into the hill to find him. He quietly gathere d a sack and some goods andwent off into the hills. The revenuers went on into the woods t o findhim but never did. Times were difficult during that period in thehistory of this natio n prior to WW II. We cannot say what we would have done in order to support a struggling family. We do know what he is saidto have done. Riches and success in this life is something he never knew by most of our standards. We can only look at the resulting lives ofhis family and say he must have done something very right is raising themduring the depression. At this writing, all of his children are dead. For the most part, the impact of apparent success of his family lives on. Now he has many grandchildren who are successful with very high morals and religious standards. So we wonder how and why. Such things as hard work and hard time s must be said to be good, very good for theresults cannot be contradicted by what we see tod ay 60 years after he completed raising his family.

Albert Duncan, a transport driver for Consumers Fuel in Floydada, loggeda million miles on hi s 1959 White Diesel last week when the odometertripped over near Justiceburg, Texas while h e was coming in fromdownstate.
That's a million miles on one truck, most of that coming on trips betweenhere [Floydada] an d Wichita Falls or Abernathy. Duncan "wore out" threeother Consumers' transports before h e started drivin g this new truck inFebruary of 1959.
Those miles have been accident-free, too, and all on the same Dieselengine. The engine was o verhauled at 265,000 miles and hasn't had amajor repair since, Duncan says.
He contributes his safe driving record and the low-repair frequency ofhis vehicle to the sam e thing --- careful driving...
Duncan is not a "hot - rodder" he says some drivers that are have theirtrucks in the shop f or a new engine at 200,000 miles.
