Another account of John Wesley Boyd indicates his father was John G. Boyd 1807-1854 and Carolina K. Collins. This researcher believes that information is incorrect and his parents are: Robert B. Boyd 1819-1883 with Mary Hobson 1824-1882. One indicator is that John Wesley's nickname was Tex. He is known by family tradition via Mose Boyd, Jr. that he traveled to Texas. His father lived there and died there in Peoria Hill, Texas. Other family members lived there as well. There are no Texas records assocated with John G. Boyd.

In addition, information was obtaine d from Coun ty ClerksOffice of Rutherford Co., TN. and Beulah Boyd had heard all her lifeth at John Wesley Boyd was born in Texas and never heard anything aboutGeorgia as recorded in ce nsus records. The following is provided by Thelma Delores Compton Smith:
-----
John Wesley Boyd and wife Susan Ann Pitts Boyd gave birth to 15 healthy children, Susan Ann's grandparents migrated to Tennessee from North Carolina in the early 1800's . It is believ ed that John Wesley'sfamily came from Texas. Susan's parents married Oct. 12, 1842 when herm other was 13 years old and her father was 21. Her parents were Mathewand Martha Daughtery Pitts. Mathew acquired a large amount of land whenthey moved to Tennessee from North Carolina . Susan was given around 200 acres of land and her father, Mathew built her a two story colonial home, a barn, chicken house, a outside privy and hog houses. He gave her some of the far m animals. Mathew was a very prosperous farmer anddid this for each of his children when they married.
My father, Grover C. Compton told me that my mother's parent and her grandparents were on of the finest, kindest, hard working, respected, honest Godly family in the Pitts-Boyd-Compt on Community. He felt honored that their daughter, Ida Dora Boyd, chose him as her husband, wh o alsocame from a highly respected Logan Lonzo and Battie Susan Owen Comptonfamily.
The beautiful southern colonial home of John Wesley and Susan Ann stood very stately upon a small rise, with a front porch with large columns extending up to the porch on the second floor. This home was beautiful furnished with tall bedsteads with at least 2 or 3 in each o fthe 5 large bedrooms to sleep 15 children and Mother and Father.

In 1841 a Robert Boyd married a Mary Hopson. Robert Boyd was born September 18, 1819 in AL o r SC. Mary Hopson was born in 1824 in Meriweather County, Georgia and it is speculated that sh e died in 1882 inTexas. Mary's father was Caswell Hopson (also seen as Hobson in "Georgiato 1 850" and "NC to 1825" marriage records -- interestingly, there is also a marriage record from 1788 for a William Hobson in Caswell County,NC). Mary's mother was Polly Keeton (speculate d to be from Upton County,Georgia).
