Individuals : Jameson Andrew
The following line of Jamxson is derived by Patricia Jamerson Archer who has dug deeper into the Jamison/Jameson/Jemerson/Jamerson/etc. family more than anyone this century. Many thanks to her for hard and extensive research into our common ancestry.
ch into our common ancestry.
Andrew Jameson b.c. 1734 d. after 1800 KY, m.1. unknown who died bef 1762. He lived at Staunton, Augusta Co., VA. Moved to Rockingham Co., VA. Had children: James b.c. 1755 (m. Martha Crow); Robert b.c. 1756 (m. Margaret Kirkham); Jacob b.c. 1758; and Andrew b.c. 1760 (m. Elizabeth Davis). After his first wife died by 1762, Andrew married his second wife, Martha Stephenson (who may or may not be related to brother George’s first wife) on 22 July 1762 at St. James Northam Parish, Goochland Co., VA. They moved to Botetourt Co., VA, and I think remained there until mid 1780s when they migrated to Mercer Co., KY area. In the mid to late 1790s they moved to Logan Co., KY. Their children: Rebecca b.c. 1765 (m. Robert Nourse 4 Dec 1789 Mercer Co., KY); Elizabeth b.c. 1765 (m. William Nourse, Robert’s brother, 9 July 1790 Mercer Co., KY ); Henry b.c. 1768; Margaret b. 1770 (m. William Ward 7 Jan 1792 Mercer Co., KY); William b.c. 1773-1775 (m. Nancy Kirkham - Joe’s line!!!); Martha “Patsy” b.c. 1790 KY (m. Isaac J. Embry 29 May 1806 Madison Co., KY); and Melinda b.c. 1793 KY (m. James Guffy 16 Dec 1813 Logan Co., KY). There should be one more daughter for sure. I’m concerned as to why there is a big age gap between William and Patsy. There is likely one daughter between the two of them for sure, and I guess they could have had some young children die which is usually the case in most families.Probable son of Robert and Sarah McKee Jameson born in Ireland or Scotland??
between the two of them for sure, and I guess they could have had some
It has been rumored that Andrew was actually a twin to my George Jameson b.c. 1728, so while I’ve always had Andrew down as b.c. 1734, he could’ve been born as early as about 1728. We do not have any definite dates of birth on the children of William & Sarah, but it was generally thought that they were: John b.c. 1723 (Randall’s line); George b.c. 1728 (my line); Andrew b.c. 1734 (or earlier); and William Jr. b.c. 1740; and Elizabeth b. bef March 1747. They may have had other daughters too, just not mentioned in William’s will. Only the boys were mentioned in the will. Other children are thought to possibly be Katherine (m. John Peery) and Sarah (m. Moses Helm), but they are not proven and I have not done much researching on them.
1 CONC not mentioned in William’s will. Only the boys were mentioned in the
George and Andrew are mentioned “together” a lot. They are mentioned in their father’s will together and not separately… “I also allow four hundred acres of land to be purchased for the stock for my Sons George and Andrew.” Brothers John and William are each mentioned separately in the will receiving different things. George and Andrew sold their 400 acres and split the money. George bought additional land surrounding his plantation in Borden’s Tract. Andrew likely bought around Staunton. George and Andrew are also together in Henings Statutes at Large p. 197 both serving in the Augusta County Militia (Privates, along with brother John who was a Corporal on p. 181), participating in the Shawnee Expedition during the French-Indian War. Both George and Andrew studied law as well, and were attorneys in Staunton together. Andrew was listed in Captain Dickinson’s Rangers from 1757 to 1759. Andrew resided at Staunton but records there are lacking in showing his work, but then he moved 15 miles north to Rockingham County, along the border with Augusta County. The earliest mention of him in Rockingham records is as early as 1788. Scott Jameson writes, “There were other Jamesons in Rockingham county about 1775. These were the children of Robert and Sarah (McKee) Jamison of Philadelphia, PA. Of the seven sons, four removed to Greenbrier Co., WV by the 1780s, and by 1790 were in Kentucky. Yet their history doesn’t impact on Andrew’s history at all. Earlier Jamisons from Pennsylvania, particularly from York county, were supposedly settled in Rockingham county, but no amount of researching has produced any inkling of this. The closest they came was Albemarle and Augusta counties before most of them migrated south into Franklin and Henry counties, VA (this is the Thomas & Jane (Dickey) Jamison lines and others of that family who do not YDNA match us). The investigation, then, shows some evidence that the Andrew Jameson {Jamison} along the border of Rockingham and Augusta counties was in fact the son of William and Sarah Jameson of the Calfpasture. Research appears to have determined that he was married and had one proven son, Jacob. By location and circumstances, does this author include as speculative purposes only the children James and Andrew Jameson as son of Andrew Jameson.”

So what is interesting to me is that Andrew came to Logan Co., KY and entered 100 acres on 12 Mar 1799, and Robert Jamison (this is Robert Henry Jamison b. 1755 d. 1826 Todd Co., KY) entered 200 acres on 10 Mar 1799, just 2 days before. And they both came out of Botetourt Co., VA, so did they come to KY together? We know Andrew was in Mercer Co., KY first though and lived there from prob mid 1780s until just before 1799. So maybe they didn’t come together. Just seems odd to me that they show up in the same place and they just so happen to share YDNA, so a common ancestor connection. I think they knew that they were cousins to one another. I toyed with the idea, could Robert Henry b. 1755 and the John Jamison b.c. 1750 d. 1811 Maury Co., TN be sons of this Andrew? But I think that Robert Jemison (m. Margaret Kirkham) must be his son. So these two are quite possibly nephews or great nephews of William Jameson (m. Sarah), so perhaps first or second cousins to Andrew.

Found two instances where an Andrew Jameson is a witness to the sale of 2 slaves, both involving a David Black. Other people selling to David Black I think it was. He witnessed both records. And that was in Christian County, KY in 1805. I’m thinking this must be Andrew that was in Logan Co., KY at the time.

Could just be coincidence, but my Robert Jameson (Andrew’s nephew) was living in Madison Co., KY about this time and in Oct 1799 entered into a bond with Alexander Black for a ferry to be established across the Kentucky River at the mouth of upper Howard’s Creek in the name of Alexander Black. Could just be coincidence since that is a common last name.
