Word, Thomas (b. ABT. 1781, d. ?)

In the Will of John Word, his father dated 25th of May 1821, Thomas is mentioned first: "I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Word on negro boy named Jack."

The following was posted by Robert Boykin on August 05, 1998:

I descend twice from John Word and his wife Fannie Collins thru their dau. Elizabeth Word(1782-1856), married to John Dillon and their son Thomas Word, married to Tabitha Tribble. I am interested in the ancestry of the Word's, Tribble's and the Collins and would be glad to share the information I have on the family.

Thomas Word was on the Tax record in 1802 living in Smith's Fork.

It is reported that Thomas Word was postmaster of Word's Cross Roads Post Office. It was in service from October 16, 1852 until December 31, 1853.

Note: James choose to change his name to James Ward rather than Word. All of his descendent are from that time forth Wards.

James was given one negro boy named Petey in his father's John will as well as being one of the four executors.

MARION WATSON on September 14, 1998:
I also descend from John Word and his wife Fanny Collins thru their son James Ward that married Mary Ann. I have 12 children for John and 10 for James.

Then it is reported that another son of John & Fanny was:

William H. that married Cynthia (Jennings)Hubbard in Wilson Co, Tn. on 26 Dec 1837.

Note: Edward is mentioned in the WFT Vol. 1 #3933 without wife. Maybe Edmond and Asenath Smith.

Note: Elizabeth Word Dillion was the oldest daughter of John Word and was the first girl mentioned in her father's Will:

"I give and bequeath unto my oldest daughter Elizabeth Dillion one negro girl named Amy."
