Grizzard, Lewis McDonald (b. , d. ?)
Note: The following was taken from the official Lewis Grizzard web site (www.lewisgrizzard.com) :

Lewis was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, and only moved to Moreland with his mother after
his father left both the Army and his young bride in a fit of despair and mystery that would haunt
Grizzard to his dying day. The tremendous love and frustration he felt for Captain Lewis McDonald
Grizzard, Sr. finally overflowed,' typical Lewis style, in a book. "My Daddy Was A Pistol and I'm a
Son of a Gun" remains one of his most remarkable works, evoking tears and laughter in such rapid
succession that the reader finally understands that they are opposite sides of the single coin of
parenthood. Years later he penned his homage to "Miss Christine," (his long suffering, tough, school
teacher mother), entitled "Don't Forget To Call Your Mama - I Wish I Could Call Mine." Together
they form bookends to the entire Grizzard library, these sentimental melancholy, misty memories of
the Mama and Daddy from which he came. Lewis often told interviewers he was raised "poor, proud,
and patriotic. Stories of his childhood in Moreland ring with American archetypes; the strong, quiet man (his maternal grandfather "Daddy Bun," a farmer and school janitor who was the inspiration for Grizzard's famous "Definition of a Redneck"), the strong Southern woman who bends but does not break (his mother, beginning life anew at age 40 after Lewis Sr.'s departure), the fearsome school authority figure (O.P. Evans, principal of Newnan High School), and of course the girls, always the girls (Kathy Sue Loudermilk and company).

Kirkham, Nancy (b. ABT. 1776, d. 17 OCT 1868)
Note: (LDS Disk 3 & 18)

One source believes William Jameson's wife was Nancy Green but this researcher cannot find proof.

Denzil & Barbara Garrison research indicates that the date of marriage was 29 Sep 1796 as well as information from Debbra Szymanski: Believes that William Jameson married Nancy Kirkham September 29, 1796 in Woodford Co., KY. She also found James Jameson b. abt. 1810 KY and Robert Jameson b. abt. 1820 marrying Narcissa Espy on July 12, 1855 Cannon Co., TN. The former record also indicates that she died in Rutherford Co., TN and was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery.

The book on Kentucky Marriages indicates that William Jamison married Nancy Kirkham on October 3, 1794 by J. Dupuy.
Another record indicates: KIRKHAM, Nancy marr. JAMESON, Wm 29 Sep 1796

In 1850 the following are enumerated on the Rutherford Co., TN census.

William Jameson m. Nancy Kirkham
1. Martha Jameson m. Jesse Rodgers
2. James Jameson abt. 1810 KY m. w/2 children in 1850
3. Robert Jameson abt. 1820 m. Narcissa Espy on 12 July 1855 in Cannon Co., TN

debnheir@@webtv.net 19 Jan 1998

Debbra did not know anything about another son who could have been Thomas Allen.

The 1850 census shows:
James Jamison 40 M KY (abt 1810) farmer (No wife is shown)
Wm. A. Jamison 10 M Tenn (abt 1840)
Sarah Jamison 7 F Tenn (abt 1843)
Robert Jamison 30 M KY (abt 1820) assumed to be a brother of James
Nancy Jamison 70 F KY (abt 1780) assumed to be the mother (maybe Nancy Kirkham Jamison?)
Martha Rogers 50 F KY (abt 1800) may be a sister of James, i.e. Nancy's daughter
James Rogers 23 M KY
Sarah Rogers 15 F Tenn

There is another Nancy Jamison living in the Millerburg area of Rutherford Co.

Jameson, James (b. 1810, d. ?)
Note: LDS Record: James JAMESON (AFN:1T2X-G3T)

James maybe the brother of Thomas Allen but no proof. Some speculation indicated that perhaps Thomas Allen's brother could have been a William Jameson b. KY who married Nancy Emilene Bell. The search goes on.

James is recorded as being born in Kentucky as at least one record of Allen. He and two children lived in the Flemings District of Rutherford Co. and were enumerated on the 13th day of September 1850. James' mother Nancy and perhaps his sister Martha Rodgers are also living with him.

Unknown but there is a James Jamison m. Sarah Lorance on Jan 9, 1841 in Rutherford Co., TN

Noting the birthdays of the Rodger children in James' household, the move to Tennessee from Kentucky was between 1827 and 1835 because of the births of the children. Thomas Allen was in the state at the 1840 census as well as married with children. He married in 1835 to Caroline who was born in TN. Their first child James was born in 1836 in Tennessee.
