Jamison, William Caldwell (b. 16 MAY 1767, d. 23 AUG 1821)
Note: At least one account indicates William's birthday was May 11, 1776.
In addition, William's father is not clear. Some records indicate that it may be John Jamison, b. 1748, son of Samuel and Catherine Cowden Jamison also found in these records.

Reported to have lived in Georgia, and moved to Montgomery County, Tennessee, in 1799 near Clarksville, Tennessee where Mrs. Jamison died. After her death he is reported to have re-married and raised another family.

One account recorded in the WFT indicates that William Caldwell was from Laurens, SC at time of marriage.

Another account is:

The family of WILLIAM CALDWELL JAMISON thought to have migrated from Ireland or Scotland to Bucks Co., Pa. From there he moved on to S.C. where he m. JANE DOWNS in 1794. The family moved on to Montgomery Co., Tn. where Jane d. abt 1800. William m. ELEANOR SHELBY in 1801. They had a son name WILLIAM DOWNS JAMISON b. abt. 1802. William Downs Jamison m. SARAH possibly ANDERSON. He was found in Humphreys Co., Tn. Census in 1830 and in Dickson Co., Tn. Census in 1840. He d. a pauper in Humphreys Co., Tn. in 1847.

Both accounts have NOT been verified but are shown here as tradition rather than fact.

Jamison, Henry Downs (b. 12 APR 1795, d. 15 MAR 1859)
Note: The descendents of Henry Downs Jamison & Elizabeth Batey are taken from WFT Pedigree #1591.

Some records indicate his death on April 4, 1795 rather than the 15th. In any case, this researcher verified that the date on the monument was recorded as follows:

Henry Downs Jamison
April 12, 1795 - Mar 15, 1859
63 years 11 months 3 days
Here rest loved one till the great resurrection morn.

Recorded from tomb stone on July 14, 2001.

These are not fully conconsistent with the other records of a Henry D. Jamison listed in these notes who perhaps married a Sarah and whos children were Arrabella, Mary, Margaret, Gustavus, Orval, Elizabeth, William, and Laura. Perhaps and probably two different Henry Downs Jamison. This would not be uncommon if they were 1st cousins or whatever that moved into Montgomery and Humphreys Co., TN.

In the Jamison Cemetery there are five markers recorded in about 1971 (not the Jamison Cemetery near the Knob). These are:

Henry D. Jamison, Apr. 12, 1795, Mar. 15, 1859
M. C. Jamison son of H. (R.?) & (G.?) W., Oct. 8, 1862, Sept. 5, 1884
Richanna C. Jamison, Feb. 1856, Sept. 22, 1861
Jennie Leatherman, Dec. 22, 1856, Jan 15, 1863
Thomas J. Watkins, Nov. 3, 1836, Apr. 27, 1862

The cemetery is in the Fosterville Quadrangle 1/3 mile S. W. of Crescent Church on North side of road surrounded by a rock wall. Marked "Cem:" on U.S.G.S. map. It is marked the Jamison Cemetery on the Rutherford Co., Chamber of Commerce Map.

Henry D. Jamison is mentioned to be the legal guardian of Madison Johns.

Unknown if this is related but maybe a cousin of not even the same family:

Notes of Anne Cathey Smith - June 23, 1999 and following:
My ggrandfather was William Downs Jamison, born between 1794 and 1800, married Sarah ?, had a daughter named Laura, my great grandmother, born 1846 and married William Hatfield. William Jamison is in the 1830 Humphreys Co, TN census. Then I can't find him any more. There was a note that he was killed in the Civil War; however, his wife and children are in the 1850 and 1860

Humphreys Co census. I don't know if there is any correlation with the folks you are looking for. Anne

My gg grandfather was William Downs Jamison, born 1794-1800 in NC, moved to Humphreys Co, TN, married Sarah ?, had several children, was listed in the 1830 Humphreys Co census; wife and children were listed in 1850 and 1860 Humphreys Co census. Can't find William later than 1832. Anne

My gg grandfather, William Downs Jamison , married Sarah ?, was in the 1830 Humphreys Co, TN census, had the following children: Arrabella, Mary, Margaret, Gustavus (listed as 13 years old in the 1850 census), Orval, Elizabeth, William, and Laura. Don't know if this could be the Gustavus that you are looking for or not. Anne

My gg grandfather was William Downs Jamison. There is a William D. Jamison in the 1820 Montgomery Co, TN census. William D. Jamison is listed in the 1830 Humphreys Co, TN census. I believe that where he lived in Humphreys Co. was actually in Montgomery Co. in 1820. I am beginning to believe that my William could well be the son of Robert. His childrens names included: Arrabella, Mary, Margaret, Gustavus, Orval, Elizabeth, William, Laura, Nancy, and Sarah. These children's names don't exactly follow the routine naming pattern, but it seems that Robert's son, William, and my gggrandfather, William, were both in Montgomery Co, TN. When was Enos in Montgomery Co? Anne

My gggrandfather was William Downs Jamison. He was listed in the 1820 Montgomery Co, TN census, the 1830 Humphrey's Co, TN census, and the 1840 Dickson Co, TN census. The area where I believe he lived was in the same area in all of the counties listed for the
census years.
Death: 15 MAR 1859 Rutherford Co, TN, buried in Jamison Cemetery of Fosterville Quadrangle.

Brandon, Thomas McGuire (b. 5 DEC 1807, d. ABT. 1870)
Note: The Brandon Family is found in WFT Vol. 1, #596 and Vol 2, #661
Trace back several generations to John Brandon, Sr., born about 1660 in Monaghan, York Co., Pennsylvania

This Thomas Brandon may have been the surety mention in the marriage of Allen Jamison and Caroline Fulks. They are not direct relatives but may have been friends because they appear to be near the same age. In any case, they had children who eventually married: Joseph Andrew Jamison & Easter S. Brandon.
