Co.

Son: Howell Henry HARGIS, born 28 Oct 1804 in Caswell Co, North Carolina; died 13 January 1856 Macon (Smith?) Co, Tennessee; 1st married 30 January 1830 in Smith Co, Tennessee to Lucy Tuck (2 children); married 2nd to Nancy GAMMON date & place unknown. Nancy born 27 September 1799 in Smith Co,
Tennessee; died 2 July 1884 in Macon Co, Tennessee (10 children).

One child was great-grandfather James Dennis HARGIS, who was the father of grandfather James Harrison HARGISS. James married Sarah HUFFMAN.

Some information says they came from St. Mary Magdelene in N.E. England about 1591. First was supposed to have been George HARGASE.
