John Jamison and Susannah Cape were married 26 March 1809 in Cumberland Co. Ky. They moved from Kentucky to Illinois between 1815 and 1819. The 1820 census shows them living in Monroe County Illinois. They moved from Illinois to Missouri between 1820 and 1825 and settled in the Black River Township of Washington Co.
William C. Love and John Jamison of Washington Co., Missouri bought 80 acres of land in 1831. This land is now in Reynolds Co. and is located near Black, Missouri. John Jamison and his family settled in Searcy County, Arkansas sometime prior to 1839. Their home was located at the mouth of the Jamison branch of the Buffalo river. The area being named for this family.

Note: The James C. Jameson family lived in Richland Township, Searcy Co., Arkansas. James became a lawyer and wsa the sheriff of Searcy Co. in 1845-1846. He was also the county surveyor from 1870-1872.

Note: Looking for information on Garret JAMISON, who died 1826 in Washington Co., Ind. He m. 1795 in Madison Co., Ky., Jane CALDWELL. She was daughter of Alexander CALDWELL who died by 1805. Garrett moved to Barren Co., Ky., by 1800, to Washington Co., Ind. in 1816. Do not know his relationship, if any, to other JAMISONS living in the Barren Co. area, although naming patterns are similar. Posted by Bob Scott Genforum.
