Bohne, Johann Diel (b. ABT. 1711, d. ABT. 1745)

Note: Johann came from Germany in 1741 onboard the ship Marlborough at the age of 30. It is said that his family was from Palatinate Province of Pfalz near the village of Obermoschel 20 to 25 miles southwest of Mainz on the banks of a river. It is said that Johann arrived with his son Nicholas at a port inn PA, then went to Frizelberg, Co. (now Carroll Co.) Maryland. He married a woman in Maryland. In 1764 he left a will and returned to Germany never to return to his family.
Death: ABT. 1745 MA or PA

Ballew, William (b. 18 AUG 1805, d. 6 MAY 1880)
Note: Marie Ballew's list of children does not show all the children.
For conflicting information as to whom is father of TJB, see CHARLES BALLEW IV, an unconnected record in this data program.
According to a Marie Ballew note, apparently a handcopy transcript from a Columbia MO newspaper dated 1880: The article confirms birth and death dates. States he died of cancer of the face. Moved to Boone County MO (Columbia) in 1836. Article confirms marriage to Mary Jane Gillaspie and specifies they had nine children. From the list above John,
Catherine and David are not named, therefore the previous information is questionable in details. Article refers to Thomas Jefferson as the "Honorable Thomas Jefferson Ballew of Carroll County, last year (1879) Greenback (a political party) member of the legislature from Carroll."
It also show Durritt as living in Montgomery, Miss.---we may have a carpetbagger there but more likely a soldier who served there (CSA?/Federal?), liked it and stayed or returned

Since receiving the above info on TJB of Carroll Co., I have definite info that he is not "my" TJB, but that does not eliminate him as the son of William b. 1805.

Jamison, Abraham (b. , d. 1843)
Note: The Abraham Jamison family is from Kevin Myers' site on www.geocities.com/myers99kc/jamison.html. Thanks to Kevin for the helpful information provided. There is no link to this family from the Rutherford Co., TN Jamisons that can be determined as yet, however, this record is placed here for research purposes in hopes that other Jamison researches may find some connection to either this site or Kevin's line.

Abraham's ancestry may go back to James Jamison, who was born about 1650 in Glasgow, Scotland however no proof is available. James moved to County Galway, Ireland, and later to the Susquehanna River in Southern Pennsylvania about 1700. This family eventually settled in Franklin Co., VA.

His parents could have been Robert Jamison and Mary Vastine. No proof is available for this available. He raised his family in Kentucky. In 1796, he purchased land which his son, Jacob, and other heirs bought before his death.

He is listed as head of household, 1820 (Shelby Co., KY) Census, and he died in the early part of 1843.

Jamison, Hugh Black (b. ABT. 1800, d. 25 DEC 1837)
Note: They lived in Rutherford Co., TN

Hugh Jamison was a farmer and successful businessman. Of Scotch-Irish descent he was born in Tennessee from Scottish stock that left Ireland in 1742 and settled in Pennslyvania. His great grandfather was Thomas Jamison who in 1755 was killed by Shawanee Indians. Two sons, Thomas and John Jamison, fled to Virginia where they resided with their mother's father, Erwin. This ancestor was no doubt Matthew Erwin who resided in Tinkling Springs, Augusta county, VA.

Hugh Jamison resided 1820, Rutherford Co., TN. He purchased from Jack Dyer, June 1819 a plot of 125 acres and registered it on the 18th. In the following year, 1820, he bought additional land from William Patterson, which was witnessed by Stephen White, his father-in-law. Both men had a bond on Augustus H. White, who was elected 1821 as a County Trustee. On January 26, 1824, Mr. Jamison, Stephen White, and others were appointed to lay out a bypass from the Murfreesborough Road to Shelbyville. Mr. Jamison was sued by John L. Linch, but the suit was dropped and both men split the court costs November 20, 1830. Additional Bill of Sales to John Priett and Stokely White, brother-in-law.

Mr. Jamison enlisted into the military in the summer of 1836 in Capt. Wilson's Cavalry and served until the summer of 1837. Just before the Second Seminole War commence, Jamison, under the command of General Coffee of Tennessee, took part in the Creek war that lasted from 1835 to 1837 and was listed at the battles of Horseshoe Bend and Orleans. Mr. Jamison fought in the Second Seminole War of 1836 to 1842. Unlike the first, in the second engagement the Seminoles refused to leave the lands they gave up in the first War. In December of 1835 110 soldiers were ambused and killed by the Seminoles. General Winfield Scott was ordered to Florida to take over the proceedings from Brig. Gen. Edmund Gaines, who was detached to Texas where he was expecting trouble along the frontier. But Gaines had raised a force, none-the-less, went to Florida with a 1000 men and nearly overrun but for one of Scott's reinforcements that came along in the nick of time. He returned to New Orleans claiming peace had been attained, but was quite wrong in that assessment. Scott made a go at it, but was eventually transferred and in the following six years three other commanders were placed and replaced as failures mounted to move the Seminoles. The only way to root out the tribes was a plan of extermination with 5,000 regulars and 20,000 short-term volunteers against some 1,000 Indians. As a result nearly 1500 militia lost their lives from battle and disease to move 3200 half-starved Seminoles west. Mr. Jamison was wounded in the neck and survived it.
