Winkler home in Daviess Co. Ky. went to William, then his son Hiram and
Anderson. Once owned by Hiram's son F. Monroe Winkler. Della Meadows is a daughter of F. Monroe's. She had son Randolph Meadows. She inherited the farm from her father. Daviess Co. KY. History book says he was born in Washington Co. Ky. 10/03/1801. -His Father Adam was born in N. C. William and Eliza (Adams) had 12 children.
- William had 1 son by marriage to Alcy.-1870 Census lists Ailsey E. Clark, 6, living with William Sr., Alcy, and William Jr.- 1880 Census lists "g-son" James Marshal ("Martial")25, "g-dau" Elizabeth 18, and"g-g-dau" Lulie 11/12, living with them.-History of Daviess County,Kentucky, Inter-State Publishing Co., Chicago, 1883. Reprinted byMcDowell Publications, Utica, KY, 1980. p. 629."WILLIAM WINKLER, born inWashington County, Ky., Oct. 3, 1801, is a son of Adam Winkler, a nativeof North Carolina, who settled in Washington County during the Revolutiou[sic], and in 1812 brought his family to Daviess County and settled in the woods in Knottsville Precinct. Indians and wild animals were plenty, but at that time, though the Indians were peaceable. Adam Winkler lived to see many changes in this county before his death. William Winkler married Eliza Adams. Of their twelve children but three are living--Hiram, William and Joseph F. Mrs. Winkler died June 14, 1844, and June 18, 1846, Mr. Winkler married Alcy Hale, who died Dec. 16, 1881. Mr. Winkler has been a hard-working man and is now, in his eighty-secondyear, enjoying a peaceful old age."
