Solomon and Nancy lived in Grainger County, Tennessee not distant fromMorristown. In Novembe r 1847, the family moved to Marion, Kentucky whereSolomon died. He was a skillful gunsmith an d early in li fe had a shop inAllen's Station, Tennessee, where he made rifles and holster gu ns. Afterhis settlement in Kentucky he repaired and stocked guns and rifles. It isstated tha t his long rifles with han d forged barrels, cherry wood stocksand cunningly engraved brass m ountings were considered to be fineshooters and Solomon was quite celebrated.
