Walter (Wally) served in the military (45th Division) in 1950 at CampPolk, LA. He was shippe d to Sasebo, Japan and later transferred to Koreawith Headquarters Company of the 179th Infan try. When he was 14 yrs.old, he helped his father, William Kelly, build theMarblehead Lighthouse . He is buried in the private Cemetery on theprairie that was once part of his farm. On Chr istmas 1862 he waspresented with a chair, handmade by Confederate Prisoners on JohnsonIsland , OH. It was made of carved native woods and bottom laced withstrips of leather from the top s of worn-out officers boots. It wasdonated to the Texas Confederate Museum in 1979 by R. L .
