No children so she left considerable land holdings & slaves to Thomas Jamison Cooper
Mary "Polly" Jamison is supposed to have run an inn on Old Robinson Roadnear where the road c rosses the Natchez Trace. She had no children andleft much of her very considerable land hold ings and sla ves to hernephew Thomas Jamison Cooper, son of her deceased sister, Sarah France sJamison Cooper. Her will was probated in Leake Co, MS 11 Aug 1856, WillBook 1, p. 8-11. Sh e is buried in Bethesda Ce metery which is located inLeake Co, MS, between Conway and Carthag e several miles off the mainhighway and not easy to locate. Her gravestone is a huge marble s lab,approximately 3 ft by 7 ft which l ies flat onthe grave. Her nephew, Thomas J. Cooper, sent a team to Meridian, MS forthe stone and the tri p took a week. The event was often told about in thefamily.
