J. J. Miller, age 59 years, died May 13 at his home near Japton. Funeralservice, conducted b y Rev. Clarence Haskins, and burial were at theGrosse cemetery Wednesday afternoon, with th e Bruce Brashea rsUndertaking Co. directing the arrangements.
Mr. Miller was a native resident of Madison county. He is survived by hiswife, Etta Miller, a nd seven children - Mrs. Ted Steeley of Kansas City,Mo., Mrs. Sam Millburn of San Antonio, Te x., Mrs. Hay den Davenport ofNewport, Ore., Mrs. Oma McChristian, Mrs. Adan Drain, Mrs. Lawre nceGarrett and Loren Miller of Japton, all of whom were present at thefuneral except the daug hter in Oregon.

Mrs. Etta Miller, 95, of Sweet Home, Ore. died Aug 22 in Lebanon, Ore.Born July 3, 1880 in Ja pton, the daughter of J. M. and Esther JohnsonEubanks, she was a member of the Church of Chri st.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Esther Steeley of Huntsville, Mrs.Maggie Dixon and Mrs. Wi lma Garrett of Dallas, Ore. and Mrs. LauraDavenport of Sweet Home; one son, Loren of Sweet Ho me; one brot her, J.A. Eubanks of Fayetteville; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Mathis and Mrs.Lil lie Simpson of Japton and Mrs. Pearl McChristian of Huntsville; 18grandchildren, 41 great-gra ndchildren and five grea t-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brashears Funeral Home Chapelwith burial in Gros s Cemetery.

Mrs. Esther Elizabeth Steeley, 92, of Route 3, Box 253, Huntsville diedApril 14, 1997, at Was hington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. Sewas born Jan. 15, 1905, at Japton, Ark., t he daughter of Jesse and EttaEubanks Miller. She was retired form Armor and Company in Kansa s City andwas a member of the Church of Christ. She was the widow of Ted MasonSteeley, who pr eceded her in death on F eb. 26, 1974.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Nadine Barnes of Raytown, Mo.; onebrother, Loren Mille r of Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. Lora Davenport ofSweet Home, Ore., and Mrs. Wilma Garret t of Oregon; two granddaughters,Mrs. Janie Raye Knotts of Springdale and Mrs. Lora Lee Gilli n ofSherwood, Ark.; one great-grandson, Steve Barnett of Huntsville; threegreat-granddaughter , Mrs. Donna Barnett of Bent onville, Mrs. EvelineNadine Gillin and Miss Mary Elizabeth Gilli n, both of Sherwood, Ark.; onegreat-great-granddaugther, Miss Indica Jane Barnett of Bentonvi lle.

Marion Miller, 17 years old, was killed suddenly Saturday afternoon nearJapton by Viola Murph y, 10 year old daughter of Joe Murphy. Thedeplorable tragedy was accidental, according to th e verdict of thecoroner's jury at the inquest held by Justice of the Peace Johnson Rogers.
The young man had been hunting and had stopped where the Murphy girl andtwo or three other ch ildren were playing. It is said that he had set downon a log and was whittling tooth brushe s for the chil dren; that theMurphy girl picked up his shotgun when the weapon was accidental lydischarged, the load striking young Miller in the side of his head andkilling him instantly .
The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Miller and a grandson of F.M. Eubanks. He is sai d to have been an exceptionally fine young man andhis untimely, tragic death has cast a ver y deep sorrow o ver Japton andsurrounding communities. Special sympathy goes out to his paren ts wholess than a year ago lost another son who died within a few hours afterreturning home o ne evening from school to w hich he went that morning inapparently good health.

Mildred Lora Davenport, 92, of Sweet Home passed away Saturday.
She was born in Japton, Ark., to Jessie James and Sarah Rose Etta(Eubanks) Miller.
She moved from Arkansas to Texas in 1937 and then returned to Arkansas in1939. In 1941 she mo ved to Vernonia and eventually settled in Sweet Homein 1945.
Mildred was a member of Oak Street Church of Christ in Albany. DuringWorld War II she was a n aircraft warning service observer and earned herwings. She worked at U.S. Plywood in Lebano n, Cardwells D epartmentStore, Cornett's and Sprouse Reitz in Sweet Home. She retired in 1982 from Whites Electronics.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, reading, hunting and fishing. She lovedto cook and no one eve r left her home without being fed.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Ewell Hayden Davenport Sr. of SweetHome; daughter Joy an d husband John Claborn of Sweet Home; son Ewell andwife Deb Davenport of Albany; four grandch ildren; and f ivegreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, LaQuita in 1943; her father in1941; her mother i n 1975; brothers William, Marion, twins Oval andOrville, and her twin brother, Loren; and sis ters Oma McChr istian,Esther Steeley, Maggie Drain Dixon, Wilma Garrett and Sina Milburn Cahi ll.

Mary Nadine Barnes, 88, from Raytown, Missouri, passed away April 5, 2012at Baptist Hospita l in North Little Rock. Nadine moved to Sherwood tolive near her youngest daughter after he r husband passed away in 2006.She was born on July 11, 1923 at home in Japton, AR, to the lat e EstherSteeley. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntand friend . She was very active in many community organizations such asBeta Sigma Phi, Eastern Star, an d the Shrine Temple. Although affected byAlzheimer's in her later years, she always maintaine d her sweet and kinddisposition and was a blessing to be around even in her final days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Beatty George Barnes and herson-in-law, John Edwar d Gillin. She is survived by her children, JanieRaye Barnes and Lora Lee Gillin; grandchildre n, Stephen E. Barnett, DonnaM. Brady and her husband, Justin Brady, Eveline N. Kent and her h usband,Benjamin A. Kent, and Mary E. Crawford and her husband, Brandon M.Crawford; great-gran dchildren, Indica J. Bar nett and Johnny E. Barnett;and her beloved nephew, Dale Z. Francisc o and his wife, Susie Francisco.
