Assumed to be the Pitts buried in the Pitts Cemetery in the LascassasQuadrangle. 1/10 of a mi le north of Bushnell Creek Bridge on Hwy. 96. Onthe east side of Hwy. about 250 feet from roa d on wooded Knoll. The are40 or more unmarked graves.

A John Pitts owned the land just south of the Matthew Pitts farm. It isassumed that they wer e brothers. This is recorded on deed book 24, page472-34 and evident in the map of District N o. 9.

In addition to John Pitts 66 (b. abt. 1794 who is believed to be one ofMatthew Pitts, Sr. son s, there was also in this district William Pitts,86 years old living with a sister Jennifer W atson. Both of her parentswere from Tennessee.

Another John Pitts 25 (b. abt. 1855 in TN), married to Anna (b. abt.1859). Both of their set s of parents were from Tennessee. They had adaughter Pearl born in April of 1880. There i s records of a John Pittswho lived in the area during this period. John was born in Virgini a anddied in Woodbury as reported by Marvin Pitts of Knoxville, TN Jan 21,1998. Following i s a record of the information provided by Marvin untilit can be linked into one or both of th e Pitts' lines.

In the 1850 census Benja. F. Pitts 26 M Tenn & Mary Pitts 17 F Tenn.Benjamin is listed as a f armer. It is noteworthy that the Joseph B. & Wm.H. Rucker family from VA are nearby. Benjami n is buried in the cemeteryjust south of Pitts Lane a few hundred yards from the Boyd Cemeter y.

WFT Vol 18 #1984 provides the descendants of Benjamin & Mary's daughterwho married and move d to Texas.
