Services for Mose C. Boyd, 88, of Murfreesboro, who died Monday, July 30,at Middle Tennesse e Medical Center, will be 2 P.M. today at Jennings &Ayers with burial in Coleman Cemetery. Le amon Flatt and Wayne Langfordwill officiate.

He was the son of the late Mose C. Boyd Sr. and Emily Jamison Boyd andthe widower of Zera Arn old Boyd. He was preceded in death by son CaptainRobert Boyd.

Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mose's grandmother, Emily Jamison Boyd and her brothers and sisters wereequally given the est ate of their father William Robert "Bud" Jamisonbecause he had no will. Emily was newly marri ed to Mose B oyd, Sr. Thefamily (brothers & sisters) decided to sign over the family farm t o Emilyand Mose the farm because they were poor and had no place to live oftheir own. The far m was passed on to Mose Bo yd, Jr. the only issue. Moseand Zera had one son, Robert who was k illed on his second assignment inViet Nam. They were heart broken because of the lose of Bobb y and formany years never used the ins urance money the government sent. Theyeventually gav e the money to their church it is believe. A couple whoattended the church found out about t he contribution and started givingthem special atte ntion. They convenced them to move to an other churchin town where the couple were not as well known. Mose & Zera gave awaythe far m in their old age before Zera died for $1 under undetermined conditions to this couple tha t befriended them. Some have said that thissame couple had done this before but typically n o one had the financialmeans of taking it to court. Estimates range to $10,000 i n court cos tto do so and typically none of the cousins alive would undertake the costand time required b ecause no gain could be accomplished except the neededjustice. Before the farm was signed o v er to the couple, the farm was tohave been given to a local religious based home for the el derly. Thecourts were not interested in protecting the rights of the elderly in theRutherfor d Co., TN are a. Less than one week after they signed away thefarm, they signed away their po wer of attorney as well. Friends,neighbors and relatives have yet to determine the motivati on to give itway after it had been in the Jamison family for almost a 100 years.Almost every one in the community knows of the situation and freely sharethe events surrounding the farm w ith anyone who ask. This event has be engiven to the writter by no less than a dozen relative s and friends of thefamily. It has been said that the couple gained over $300,000 from thela nd and property. It has also been said that the couple are currentlyworking on another lad y who is in a nursing home.
