Married Alice (unknown last name) two known sons Willie and George. Married Margaret Elizabeth Burkett Barrineau August 18,1913. They had three children, John Irvin Gregory b. July 14, 1914(my father), Irene Caroline Gregory b. November 5, 1916 and Woodrow Wilson Gregory b. January 16 1919. In 1910 census he states he is 52 making his birthdate 1858. His Marriage Certificate, dated Aug 1913, to Elizabeth Burkett Barrineau, states he is 51 making his birthdate 1862. The submitter remembers his father saying he came from Marietta GA to Charleston.

John B. enlisted in the 6th Kentucky Mounted Infantry Regiment (Confederate).
He was in Company F. A Union minnie ball struck him in the right arm near the
elbow on the second day of the Battle of Shiloh (April 7, 1862). He was
permanantly disabled. He was transferred to Company I and honorably discharged
on Sept. 9, 1862. He spent the remainder of the war in Mississippi convalescing
and suffering with Septeomia which affected his lungs and eyes (he went blind as
an older man).

His parents are John D & Sarah W Harper Gregory. His father, John was killed in Bowling Green, KY during the Civil War. John Bell and his brother, William Alexander also signed up.

John Bell Gregory, probably named after John Bell the TN politician (1797-1869)as many of the Gregorys were named after presidents or politicians, enlisted on 7 Oct 1861. He was a Private with Co.F, 6th KY Regiment of Confederate Infantry, also called the Orphan Brigade. He was wounded on the second day of the Battle of Shiloh, 7 Apr 1862. He was shot by a Union soldier with a minnie ball in his right arm. It stayed lodged in his arm for about 4 years before it was removed. He was honorably discharged on 9 Sep 1862 because of the injury and the sickness it caused. The doctors said he had Septicemia (blood poisoning) which affected his lungs and eyes....eventually he was blinded. John did not take the oath of allegiance to the United States Government at the end of the war. After he received his pension he moved from Sumner Co, TN to Robertson Co, TN.

then. Sidney was a member of the Old Bottom (Beech Bottom) Missionary Church
in Macon County. That is where I got the DOD for her as it was in the
minutes of the church. In 1910 Marlin was in the County jail. The court had
determined him mentally incompetent. This is all I have on them, but I
wanted to share this. [Source- "The Descendants of Henry Dozier Brawner"] We
wrote this in 1999. Unfortunately I have searched the TN Death Certificates,
one certificate at a time, and have not found one for her. But there are
alot of the early 1920's certificates missing and were never turned into the

Mary Gregory was the mother of 13 children twins were born in the family her Mother had twins their names were Parthenia and Zelinda Mary Gregory was born next to the twins. She had twins their names was Napoleon and Josephine. Fannie Gregory Gresham was born next. She had twins a girl and boy Minnie May was the girls name the boy died at the age of nine days was not named. Isham Gregorys Mother was a Miss Hawks Mary Gregorys Mother was a Miss Fisher. Isham Gregory died in 1866.

This cemetery is enclosed in fence but trees have fallen across fence and large farm type gate pushed over. This cemetery is approximately 30 x 30 ft.

Along with his wife Carolyn, Tom is survived by 2 sisters, Betty McElroy of Plainfield, IN, Mildred (Louis) Brown of Rockfield, KY, 2 step sons, Tim Esteb, of Indianapolis and Ken Esteb of Largo, FL, 2 daughters, Sherry (Ray) Lyons and Debbie Gregory, both of Indianapolis, 2 step daughters, Karrie Jackson of Palm Harbor, FL and Tammy (Shane) Pritchard of Hemet, CA, 12 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren.
