Many hearts will be sad to learn of the death of Mrs Ollie Pate Clark, which occurred at her home near Baghdad in Jackson County March 16. She had been an invalid for a number of years but always seemed to bear her suffering with much patience, and seemed to grieve more because she was unable to attend church. She was born to Walter and Susan Pate on March 19, 1859, lacking only 3 days of being 73 years old when she died.
She was married to Bro H C Clark October 1, 1884. To this union was born 4 children; 3 sons, Vestal, Garland and Omer, and 1 daughter, Opal.
Her funeral was conducted by Bro John W Fox at her home on March 17; burial was in the family cemetery.

Joe Givens., a son of Archibald "Archie" and Mary Catherine Funk Givens, was born January 17, 1866, probably in Smith County, TN. His known siblings were Samuel T., Elizabeth, James, Harvey Neal, David Calvin "Tink", Sidney Cornelius, Minnie B., and Millie Frances. Joseph was united in marriage with Maggie A. Duke on September 10, 1889, in Jackson County, TN. Maggie was the daughter of Napoleon Clay Duke and Carrie Ann Thomas Duke. Joe and Maggie became the parents of Ethel Clara, Minnie B., Winburn Eugene, Eddie (who died at 6 weeks) and Walter who died shortly after birth. Maggie passed away a few days after Walter's birth at the young age of 32. After Maggie's death, Joe was married on March 16, 1905, to Martha Ann Huff Givens, who was previously married to James Givens. The following children were born to Joe and Martha: Harvey Neal, Ida Mae, William Hardin, Archie George, Mary Belle, Fannie L., Minnie O., Mary Helen, Ivie Marie, and Linnie Givens. Joe died in Jackson County on the twenty-first day of March 1949 at the age of 83, and was buried in the Witcher Cemetery, Bagdad, Jackson County, TN. According to his death certificate, Joe suffered from senility at the time of his death.

Ms. Ida Beatrice Morgan, better known as Beatrice, age 89 of Lafayette, TN passed away Tuesday, December 22 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning, December 24th, at 11 a.m., from chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Harold Dean Linville and Elder Guthrie Thompson officiating. She was born on November 19, 1920 in Macon County, TN. She was one of four siblings born to her parents; Johnnie B. and Mary Lee Brim Porter, who both preceded her in death. Beatrice was married to C. M. Morgan, Jr. on May 18, 1940, sharing thirty-five years together, and raising two sons. C.M. preceded her in death on December 20, 1975. Besides her husband and parents; a grandson, Tony Morgan, two brothers, J.B. Porter and Huston Porter, and a sister, Elizabeth Gregory, also preceded her in death.

As a young woman, Beatrice worked as a seamstress for over twenty years at Imperial Reading. She also worked a period of time at Texas Boot Factory, Carters Automotive, Macon County General Hospital, and Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, before retiring. Beatrice was a loving mother and grandmother, who took great pride in her family. She enjoyed mowing her yard, and if she found out that the boys were coming to mow, she would go out and try to get the yard mowed before they got there. Beatrice liked to work in her flower beds, and she also enjoyed listening to gospel music. She was saved at the age of nine and joined Dixon Creek Missionary Baptist Church in 1930; in 1954 she moved her membership to Meadorville Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a member. Beatrice was a very kind and loving lady who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Larry Thomas Morgan was born on Thursday, November 20, 1947 in Wilson County, Tennessee, one of two siblings born to Climath Carole Powell Morgan, who survives and lives in Macon County and the late Thurman Otis Morgan, who preceded him in death on December 4, 1970. He was married to the former Wanda Faye Mahaney on December 4, 1970, who survives. Besides his father, a granddaughter, Makaya Carter preceded him in death. He was retired from TRW Ross Gear in Lebanon, where he had worked for 41 years and was currently working at Mueller Refrigeration in Hartsville. He loved farming and presently had tobacco crops. He served his Country in the United States Army and was a member of the Haysville Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 37 years and his mother, he is survived by, son, Jeff (Evette) Morgan, daughters, Kim (Shawn) Carter, Lori (Clint) Carter, sister, Sherry (Jeff) Massey, grandchildren, Kendrick & Keeley Carter, Allye & Collin Morgan, Morgan & Cadence Carter, and nephew and niece, Thomas & Mary Massey.

Willa Dean Roark Driver, age 82, of the Midway Community in Allen County, KY, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Macon County General Hospital. She was born on October 20, 1927 in Allen County, KY, to her parents; the late Connie Carson and Ercie Lillian Franklin Roark.

Willa Dean was married on December 1, 1945 to Calvin, better known as, Quentin Driver, they shared a wonderful fifty-two years together and raised a son and two daughters, Quentin preceded her in death on February 25, 1997. Besides her husband, Willa Dean was also preceded in death by her Father, Connie Carson Roark, Mother, Ercie Lillian Roark, Brothers, Melvin, Blondell, and Murl Thomas Roark, Sister, Trevell Roark, Son-in-law, Richard Phillips.

Willa Dean worked for Imperial Reading until it closed in 1978, then she went to work for Lafayette Apparel where she retired in 1995. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family; never did you go to her home that she did not have something on the stove. Willa Dean was a dedicated mother, granny, and great-granny, whose life revolved around her family. She was a member of the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Willa Dean will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
