.com :
Was an early settler of Kentucky. Came there in about 1785. He was a farmer and also was engaged in the practice of medicine. The maternal grandfather, William Jameson, was another early settler of Kentucky, about 1785. Note: William Jamison/Jameson is reported in LDS Disc #3 and #18. The later record indicates his birth to between 1770 & 1780 vs Abt. 1775. This is important because of the reported births of his parents. This inconsistency is the reason the assumption given below. The author makes no claim of the validity of this link due to this discrepancy. If you have proof please contact me. The Abt. 1775 was supplied by Sheryl Bagwell of West Valley City, UT while disc # information is from Denzil & Barbara Garrison of Bartlesville, OK. Some researchers have assumed that this William is the father for Thomas Allen Jamison of Rutherford Co., TN, my ancestor, however, of all of the links in the Jamison genealogy, the William Jamison link has less available information and is the most SUSPECT of ERROR since I have not examined the will of William Caldwell as yet nor any other supporting evidence.
he William Jamison link has less available information and is the most
The Thomas Allen Jamison trail technically ends at the Jamison Cemetery near Pilot Knob and the 1840 Census records which announces his arrival into Wilson Co. The following information was obtained from Lulene Dill Rushing who is noted for her knowledge of the families of Rutherford Co. and associated history. Notes of Mrs. Elvis Rushing done in 1981. This researcher wished that the connection with the William Downs Jamison could be verified but many dates and the connection has not been substanuated. Other Jamison information is given below. Some may have no connection to this branch of the Rutherford Co., Jamisons who settled near the Knob. It is listed here as background research and nothing more. Take it or leave it but if you can prove any of it I would be delighted to have access to your theories. If you just have a theory, that's fine too since most of this genealogy is based on records that often are more suspect than verbal accounts or books who have access to the same information we do.

Vol #2 of FTM Marriage Index for Woodford Co., KY has: September 29, 1796 Jameson, Wm - Nancy Kirkham October 3, 1796 Jamison, William - Nancy Kirkham One may expect that these are the same people. The Jameson/Jamison is the question. One of the census records indicate that Thomas Allen was born in Kentucky. Another mentions Ohio so no clear decision can be made. If the choice is not William, then currently there are no other options. The link established between the Hugh/Henry Jamisons and the Thomas Allen Jamisons is clearly the key that I have searched. William is found in the will of William Caldwell and Jane Downs Jamison but no other record is available. The "Maternal Jamison Spain" papers do not mention William. The family of William Jamison and Nancy Green was researched by Mrs. Elvis Rushing of Murfreesboro, TN dated March 1981. She reported them living in Kentucky, Warren Co., Roberson Co., TN near Springfield in the 1830 Census. He was a Doctor and Farmer. These children were living in Tennessee in 1850 Census. Nancy Jamison was 70 and living in a household of James Jamison who is the right age to be the son of Nancy. Could the family have come to Tennessee after the father died? Sarah was a cripple and was the 2nd wife of Haille? Saunders. Thomas Allen is also the current age to be her son but he says he was born in Ohio. (Other Census record says he was born in Kentucky - note by Joe Jamison). A William Jamison is in the 1830 Census of Robertson County near the Rogers Family. William Jamison was in the 1840 Census of Rutherford Co. It is reported that William's father's will in the court house there. Some have assumed that William's father is Henry Down Jamison since some of the records examined suggest family relationships. Henry Downs Jamison, of Rutherford Co., has had his family researched. His ancestor was William Caldwell Jamison who had a son Henry Down who married Elizabeth Beaty daughter of William Beaty, Revolutionary War Soldier and lived heading on Franklin Road. Mr. Henry Downs reared his family in Rutherford Co. and most were married here. They are known to be kin to Thomas Allen's descendents. In the Jamison History, in Linebough Library in the Tennessee Room, Henry's brother William was mentioned in the will and they found no further record. Henry Down, was born in GA., and moved to Montgomery Co., Tennessee near Clarksville, TN. This is not far from the Kentucky border. If William's wife was Nancy, she came here with her children and she was the oldest Jamison in Rutherford Co. Martha Roger's son James 23 years in 1850 and was at the household of Sarah Jamison's husband, Hailey Saunders, Sept. 11, 1850 but Sept. 3, 1850 he was with his mother in the household of James Jamison and his grandmother Nancy. His father is dead. That shows a relationship between the families. The 1850 Census record of the Flemings District recorded 13 Sept 1850 the following: #436 (Farmer) James Jamison 40 M KY Wm. A. Jamison 10 M Tenn Sarah Jamison 7 F Tenn Robert (Farmer) 30 M Tenn Nancy Jamison 70 F KY Martha Rogers 50 F KY James Rogers 23 M KY Sarah Rogers 15 F Tenn James is head of the household with no wife shown. William and Sarah are son & daughter. Robert is probably his brother while Nancy his Mother. Martha Rogers could be his wife's mother and her siblings James and Sarah. James would have been born in 1810 and Robert 1820. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- -----------------------------------------

It appears that William Jamison (m. Nancy Kirkham) was Andrew’s son, and after he married Nancy in Woodford Co., KY on 3 Oct 1796 (he and Samuel Kirkham, her father security), they moved to Logan Co.,KY by 1799. Andrew Jamison is listed on the 1799 Logan Co., KY Tax List and so is William Jamison. It is dated 6 Sep 1799, page 4, Israel McGready, Commissioner: Andrew Jamison 200 acres on Muddy River; William Jamison 100 acres on Muddy River.

William’s land was originally entered by Andrew Jameson, so that to me shows their relationship.
