Mrs.Lula Meador, aged 73 years, died at her home in the Siloam section of this county on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock. Death was attributed to a stroke of paralysis which occured early Tuesday morning. She was the widow of the late Lambert Meador, who died nearly 20 years ago. She leaves one son Delbert Meador, of Siloam; one daughter, Mrs. Oma Dell Jones of the Fairview section; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild
Funeral services were held at Eulia General Baptist church at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, followed with burial in the church cemetery. The deceased was a professed Christian although she was not identified with any church. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Grey Sloan, and was born and raised in the Green Grove section. Elders F. W. Lambert and Claudie Miller were in charge of the service.

The death angel came into the home of L. A. Cothron on the night of July 7th at 9 o'clock and received him in his arms. He was born June 14, 1848 and was 76 years of age, and is known throughout the adjoining counties. He was the son of D. A. and Manervia Elizabeth Cothron. While we are lonesome and grieved and his face we can not see, happy in heaven we wish him to be.
Mr. Cothron was married twice first to Sidney Jane Creasy and last to Liddie Jane Dillard ten years ago. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Joe T. Byrns, one sister and two brothers, Ike and Charley, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Interment was made at the family graveyard at Charlie Cothron's near Hartsville.

Funeral services for Ercie Harper Gettings, age 100, a resident of the Medco Center of Franklin, KY and formerly of Lafayette, TN were conducted Sunday, June 25, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN with Elder Ricky Huff officiating. Interment followed in the Cold Springs Cemetery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Gettings passed away Thursday morning, June 22, 2006 at the Medco Center of Franklin.
A native of Macon County, the daughter of the late Marlin Wade "Dink" and Amanda Jane Bandy Perdue. She was married to Willie Harper, who preceded her in death. She later married Amos Gettings who also preceded her in death. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son Jack Harper, granddaughter, Suzanne Fly, brother Charlie Perdue, half-brother, Hubert Perdue and half-sister, Myrtie Hopkins. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church.
Survivors include; daughters; Willie Mae (Henry) Edwards. In 1751 Jonas and Frances were in Cumberland County, Virginia at the head of Deep and Muddy Creek, six miles north east of the county seat. At his death he owned 630 acres of land. Some of his children preceeded him into Cumberland County and two followed, Joel and Jonas, Jr. The will of Jonas is in Will Book #1, page 361 Circuit Court, Cumberland County, Virginia. His will was dated May 5, 1768 and was probated August 23, 1768. In his will he named his wife and only his sons.
In Frances' will she named all of the children. Her will was probated September 25, 1780, Will Book #2, 1769-92, pp. 966-7. She gave her side saddle to her granddaughter Ann Meador and a heifer to Rosanna Meador, daughter of Joel and Susannah Clark. Jason and Job moved to Anson County, NC.

Blon Driver, Jr., age 79, of Manchester, WI, was called home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI surrounded by his loving family.

Blon was born on March 31, 1932, the son of Blon J. and Pauline (Bohanon) Driver, Sr. He grew up farming in Lafayette, TN with his father and two brothers and graduated from Macon County High School in 1951. In December of 1952 he entered the Army with basic training in Fort Lee, VA, serving 13 months in France and completing his service in December of 1954 as a Corporal, receiving the National Defense Service Medal.

In 1953 Blon was united in marriage to Judith Karberg. They had two daughters, Lea Ann and Jody, and made their home in Hales Corners, WI. Judith passed away in 1970.

Blon enjoyed a lifelong career in electrical sales. He began his 28 year career with General Electric in 1955, followed by a 15 year career with Midwestern Electric.

In 1971, Blon was united in marriage to Sandra Radtke. In retirement he and Sandra relocated from Greenfield, WI to Manchester where he joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Manchester Activity Center and their brat frys. He also enjoyed spending time with the GE Quarter Century Club, the Manchester Senior Citizens, listening to country gospel music and cheering the Packers on with family and friends.

James worked as a trucker for the Vernie Bohanon Saw-Mill, Merchants, Manning Motors, and Bowling Green Express. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and retired in 1987. He enjoyed working outside and riding his farm tractor. James loved his family and not having any children of his own claimed his nephew and nieces like they were his. He was saved in his later years and was of the Baptist Belief. James was a member of the Hillsdale #664 Masonic Lodge F&AM and the Carthage Benevolant Masonic Lodge #14 F&AM. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.

He was a carpenter and a retired school bus driver for the Macon County School System and the Allen County Board of Education. Carl was a bass singer for the Christianaires Quartet for 30 years. On February 2, 1936, he was married to Genie Jones Driver, who died March 1, 1984.
